Raptors contact Ostertag
According to the Salt Lake Tribune the Raptors along with the Bucks and Suns have contacted Ostertag about signing him.
I would love to see the Big O play for the Raps. What a front court we'd have then - Ostertag, Bosh, Marshall, Araujo, Moiso. That's a pretty promising front court.

Good short term plug in, but if we are serious about Ostertag then we cannot match the offer to retain Peterson as we then will be over the cap, luxury tax.

If we sign him he probably will be the starter for the first 3 months or maybe more until Araujo is ready

I'm so glad Toronto has such awesome management. I was seriously thinking Greg Ostertag is the answer. He can team up with Robert Archibald and take over the L.
I'm sorry I seem to have lost the smilie of the guy killing himself.

I'd rather have Ostertag to plog the middle instead of Peterson shooting up threes like his life depended on it. We already have Lamond Murray and Jalen Rose at the SG/SF position. Who do we have at the centre? Undersized players.

Ostertag is a fine shot blocker and a big presence defensively. He can't score.
Araujo should be a decent scorer.
They complement each other.
I'm pretty sure Ostertag will get an MLE contract from someone, though.

Ostertag would make the team better. They might even win 35 games. There is no way we would be a contender if our plans just included signing players like Ostertag. He is a good player for a team, he's like just throwing your garbage under your bed instead of putting it in the basket.
Babcock, throw your garbage in the bin.

Whoa, who do you want us to sign with like 2-2.5 million?
We're not going to get someone to make our team suddenly a contender with half or the full MLE.
But Ostertag would compliment Araujo nicely, as he does the things Araujo struggles at, and does them very good. Would be a nice teacher and starter untill Hoffa is ready.

If Ostertag comes here for the 1.6 mill we have available then I am fine with that.
We have nothing more to offer and no veteran NBA C with any other options would come here anyway.
MoP has nothing to do with Oster.
Raps will be right around 55 mill without MoP this year. Letting Mo walk does nothing to clear up money to sign another FA this year. We used 4-4.5 of our 5.1 MLE on Rafer this year.

no kidding! all it would really take to get shaq is bad contracts like rose, alvin, murray and miami would probably let us have eddie jones so we could add him to the deal to make it work. Like...getting a solid big man in this league is ridiculously easy...noone really values big men

Of the cheap affordable centers left Ostertag is the best, if brought in we don't need him to score just block shots and be a presence on D.
