Vince Carter tells the Score
It has been reported on the score this morning that Vince Carter has denied that he has requested a trade from toronto....but at the same time still gave no direct answer on his feelings towards the club
What do you make of this?

There are three options: I want to be with my team, I don't want to be with my team, and I don't not want to be with my team. The first is from a player that blatantly wants to stay in most cases. The second is from a player that blatantly wants to leave, and usually isn't that common. The third is the vague response that a lot of the players who are rumored to want out say. Odds are they either want out or believe the team wants them out, but they don't want to burn bridges in case they wind up not being traded.
That last bit is what my guess is for the Carter situation. He would like to move on, but he isn't pulling a Shaq and adamantly forcing anything. He doesn't want to burn bridges with the team or fans in the likely case that he isn't traded. A comment like "I am not demanding a trade, I'm not sure where that idea came from" might be what a player in this situation says as opposed to "No way do I want to be traded, I have no interest in playing anywhere but in Toronto this season." Of course I say this without knowing what Carter said, so if it is the latter, maybe he doesn't want to go.

I think Vince is doing the Raps a favour if he does in fact want a trade. If he HAS to get out of town, and Toronto has to be desperate, his trade value will go down, as other teams know he must be traded at any cost. By keeping quiet there is always the possiblility that he will be happy staying with the Raps, so teams will have to offer more to lure him away.
As an aside....ever notice that any half decent player (other than JYD) leaves the team on a sour note and becomes disenchanted with the fans? It's not the fans' fault....it's just that they always become so frustrated with the management that they speak out against the team and demand to leave. I can't see the Raps being able to lure many decent players here in the future if things continue the way they are.

Here is what's happening --
Vince Carter wants to be traded, he wants out of Toronto - however, he cannot publicly say that until after his charity game. Imagine 20,000 people booing Vince Carter at the charity game - wouldn't be pretty. I can guarantee you that he will demand a trade after his little game.

Vince confirmed that he wants out without saying it today.
If you are really happy, then we all would have heard "Raptor for life" again.
We did not.
I think a lot of this hush on both sides has been out of respect to his charity game.
The real thing will heat up after his charity game. If no one steps up with a proper offer, Vince may have to wait for the deadline.

Assume that as you want. But VC also did subtle things indicating he wants to or is willing to stay. He added additions to his Toronto Night Club, and is looking for his wife's job in Toronto.
If VC says he wants to stay with Raps to the public, and then the right deal comes along for Babs, as he has publicly stated he would, VC then looks like a liar and a baby. And what do Toronto fans do to him after this, treat him like TMac even tho hes greatest thing ever to happen to franchise. He has liked his time as a Raptor and doesn't want it to be soured. You have to look at both sides, which i thought you would since you know exactly what the Raps should/should have done.

You have to understand that just because his life as a Raptor will end, his connection to Toronto won't.
Separate those realms and hints.
Dave Stewart still does charity work here and he has been gone for a decade.

Vince said he knows very little about these rumours and has not said anything about him leaving. So why are you saying he wants to move on?? He said he knows very little about these rumours.

What does Dace Stewart charity have to do with VC not denying trade rumors? He's not staying for charity work
He wants his wife to have a job in Toronto, while he plays in New York?? VC on all accounts is a baby, and he doesnt want ppl to hate him, esp the fans that treated him the best but now are unloyal and quick to change. I dont think VC could handle TMac like hate and he knows that so he isnt going to say he will remain a Raptor, since Babs is willing to trade him. If he says so, and is traded he looks like a jerk and the last 7 years of his life have been a waste. I think Raps fans would treat him worse then Tmac if he says publicly he wants to stay in Toronto, and is traded because Babs got a good deal not VC wanting out, and VC sure doesn't want that so he is covering himself on both sides, since he might be traded even if he doesn't want out.

Did anyone watch TSN last night?
They put up a quote from Carter that ended with:
"I don't care about the Raptors. I will let my agent handle that."
I had not seen that anywhere else and was pretty shocked by it. The first part of the quote was exactly what we had heard before about him not commenting.
Here we go. I found a print link for that quote:
He said he does not even know whether he will plan to meet with Babcock to discuss his status during his stay in Toronto.
"I don't know," Carter said. "I'm not worried about Raptors, the organization, nothing like that. I'll let my agent handle that as of right now.
from Globe and Mail.

VC's wife is not looking for a job. She is a Doctor and could open her own practice if she wanted. She won't.

Maybe if you all could be a little patient, you would finally get your answer. There's no need speculating things cause it wont get anywhere. Bottom line is until Vince makes his thoughts clear people are going to be running helter skelter saying this, saying that. If the man asks for a trade, great move on withouth him, if he doesnt great also. Last time I checked he has 3 more years on his contract.
Oh also, from that same TSN quote, Vince also said he found it out of character for people to be talking about what they think he wants or what not, he also said during his honeymoon he kept hearing of all the trades and was quite suprised
