Article: "Bosh, Araujo take shape"
http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Toront...15/629931.html
I know most of us already knew this info. But it is a hell of a lot better than talking about Mo Petersore's herpes.
I liked that Araujo went to the Pete Newell Big Man Camp. I just have a feeling that this kid is the real deal. He just works so hard.

i'm glad araujo is everything that they (the raps) said he was. i think it would have been a slap in the face if they miscalculated his strengths and underestimated his weaknesses. the 2004 draftpick was mighty important, so it's good to see that the raptors will (at the very least) get something from it.
the man appears to be a gym rat, truly intent on improving his game, and he'll probably become serviceable for that reason alone.
of course, if he's still "fat", slow and can't finish under the basket, the raptors are looking for trouble.
peace

it will be so great if we don't have to worry about our center spot the next 5 years. Possibly the next decade.
I think he has more Bryant Reeves in him than Potapenko or whoever. His shooting touch is so much better than the scrubs people predict him to play like

Bosh carried about 225 pounds on his stringy 6-foot-10 frame last season and, although he played well as a rookie, the Dallas native often took a beating from the heavier, stronger veteran centres in the league. By season's end, he was even lighter than 225 and extremely fatigued...
"He is well over 230 now," Thomas said. "And that's after working out really hard this summer."

I really don't think Boshs 'frame' is all THAT small. He's nowhere near as small as people make out. He's not like Keon or anything
wonder how much Theo Ratliff weighs. CBs frame isn't that far off Theo's is it?

I like the part that says Hoffa lost weight - that is very important for him in order to be a better defender esp. late in games.
way to go guys.

Very happy when i read that article today.
Those two had expectations on there weight issues (i guess you could call them that), and supposedly they both addressed those issues.
I really am looking forward to seeing Bosh & Hoffa play together.

Ujo is going to impress a lot of people with his mobility next year. I think he'll get up and down the court quite well.
And what do you think "well over 230" will be by training camp? I don't think 240 is out of the question- an offseason increase of 12 lbs according to raptors.com end of season notes. Think Bosh has actually stepped on a scale yet? When he does come in bigger, do you think he'll let us (the fans) know his actual weight?

12 pounds of muscle mass is A TON, and near impossible. Perhaps he can add 12lbs of fat and water mass but what value is there in that?? If we can get five pounds a summer of good weight on the kid...we should be more than happy, and even happier if he can retain that weight over the season.

Actaully no.
Gaining 12 lbs of muscle in what.. 5 months. Isn't even close to impossible. This is an extreme case kind of. But someone I work with can gain around 12 pounds of muscle in one month. He is a natural at it though. But saying that, it would be near impossible for Bosh to gain 12 pounds of muscle in 4 months. Is madness.
Anyways. Thats all folks

Sorry bro hate to rain on your parade, but 12 pounds of muscle in one month IS impossible.
I understand this person may tell you otherwise but I assure you he is wrong.
I worked as a personal trainer for two years. I also played football in university and was pushed to put on weight. I worked and worked and worked over a four-month period. I was able to add 15 pounds to my 240 lbs frame. After training camp I lost over half of the weight because it was merely fat and water mass.
And I'm a big guy...I put on weight fairly easily.
A 6'11" 19 year old rail thin kid will have an exponentially more difficult time adding that kind of weight.
If Bosh weighs 230-235 come mid-season that is a MASSIVE accomplishment.
On the flip side; Bosh will likely at some point "fill out". Most people do between the age of 18-25 and it will happen in a fairly short period of time. During that span bosh will put on a considerable amount of weight. However it will be visible to the naked eye that bosh has grown. Clearly CB has not filled out we all saw it this summer.

On a high calorie diet, working out like a fiend, and taking legal suplements, it is not a stretch. He is a muscular kid to begin with and clearly has worked his *** off. Think you will be surprised.

Not impossible. Look at Travis Outlaw, came into the draft barely weighing 200 lbs. Now he's nearly 230 lbs.

It sounds like a lot of muscle to me too! I'm a real high metabolism guy and when I was working out it took me months to put on about 12 pounds despite significant gains in strength. and someof that wasn't muscle. Not impossible, but a lot to do. Mind you I wasn't taking supplements, just eating a lot. (Mmmmm Food)

2 pounds per month is completely attainable.
10 pounds of muscle in an offseason isn't nuts or anything. Tons of players have done it in all kinds of different sports.
