The fan's reaction to Carter's trade demands

Bill Harris brought this up and I thought I'd make a thread to discuss the Carter vs. The Raptors scenario.

Quote:
Can you imagine the reaction Carter will get when he takes the court for the Raptors' first pre-season game at the Air Canada Centre? Patrons are advised to bring their own safety goggles, just in case there's some bloody splash-back.

Now, if you were to go to a Raptors game, and Vince is still playing for the Raptors would you boo him?

Are you more of a Raptors fan than a Vince fan or vice versa?

I ask this because I see lots of fans liking Vince Carter just because he's on the Raptors.

Can't wait till he gets traded and walks into the ACC to see bannanas and apples thrown at him..

i am more of a Raptor fan then VC fan but i would not boo VC, i choose to remember what he did before this last year. I find that people have a what have you done for me latly attitude, and they forget about all the things that he has done for the franchise

I'd love to see him get one of his phantom injuries (not one that would hurt his trade value. duh) and lay on the court for a few minutes.

just to see how the fans react. He'd get applause once he got up, but the initial reaction would be interesting. Just to see if the entire arena burst out laughing

Why would I boo him, when no one wanted to play in Canada Vince was the only one that didnt complain. I really dont think Vince has a problem with the fans of toronto or the country either, his frustration comes from management. Why would you want to boo someone who has done so much for the city

lol. apples and bananas. I just read that.

I don't think anyone will throw stuff. Maybe superfan will wear a black turban in protest or something.

also don't see how he's done 'so much for the city'. He plays basketball. whoopedy doo. All the stars have charity functions. Vince is no different.

I wouldn't boo him, because I've always liked him. He is an infinitely more respectable human being than Tmac.
But I would laugh and laugh if people throw apples and bananas at him.

Thanks to Vince theres still basketball in Canada without Vince the Raptors could be move like the Grizzlies.

He's the most important player in the History of the Raptors and now you dont like him because he demand a trade to a winning team, you cant blame him.

I dont know you guys but i dont like lose and looks like Vince either he's a winner and if the GM can help to bring good player to Toronto to bad. Vince wanna be in a winning team doesnt matter if is Canada Florida LA etc...

Again in the last yrs check the "new Raptors" other than Bosh all are Scrubs - Milt, Moiso, Batter, Nate, Etc....

Wow, what an incredibly idiotic statement, especially coming from a moderator~! The NBA was in Canada before Vince Carter and it will remain long after he leaves.

From a fiscal standpoint, the Grizzlies were unprofitable due largely to declining corporate support by 2000. This was prompted by a slumping BC economy and a dismal product on the floor. Fan support was never an issue. In fact, given the horrific record produced by the Grizzlies, attendance was more than admirable!

Toronto is the fourth-largest market in North America, sports a stunning high-tech arena, and a fanbase large enough to keep the Raptors (MLSE) profitable regardless of the product on the floor.
more like what an idiotic response, Vince is the sole reason there is a team in toronto still. Look at Vancouver, they foled because of a lack of sales cause they was nothing exciting about them. In toronto, we had VC who was tearing up the league with his acrobatics and we were a team on the rise, had VC left i could seriously see the team moving.

I'm much more of a Raptors fan than I am a VC fan, but I wouldn't boo Vince. I would never boo a current Raptor... unless they slept with my mom or something...

As much as some of you would like to bash him y'all are quick to forget what he does for us and how good a player he is. You guys won't be happy when(if) he gets traded because he's gonna tear it up on his new team. And you guys won't be happy if we get Ray Allen back because it'll be the same thing all over again. Vince has done too much for our team for any Raptors fan to boo him - just look at our attendance the season before he got drafted. If anyone boos him, even at a preseason game, then they must be some really fickle bandwagoners...

But this is really pointless, actually, cause no matter what I say or no matter what Vince says, the only way we can put this (ridiculous) argument to rest is when the season starts, if the Raptors play well or not.

I'm from Vancouver, not you! The team never folded, they started dripping red ink and rather than pursueing a local ownership group that was committed to bringing the franchise back into the black, the NBA board of governors allowed Orca Bay to sell them to Micheal Heisley, whose intentions were suspicious from the begining. Six years of horrific management and lackluster ownership never killed core fan support. In fact, amatuer basketball in BC is thriving.

Why would the Raptors move if VC left? Are basketball fans THAT fickle in the T-Dot that one player makes or breaks their commitment to your professional club? To imply that is to disrespect all the real hoop fans in your fine city.

You're right. I remember when a group from Vancouver wanted to buy the Grizzlies, and just needed a little more time to get their stuff together, but dumb David Stern couldn't wait.

The thing that bothers me is that he can wait around the Orlando Magic - even though they're losing money. There are other teams that are now in the situation that the Grizz were in, but you don't see Stern moving them around.

For sure the Grizzlies should have remained in Vancouver.

Yup, you are 100% right.

If nothing else, the Grizz organization was massively successful at spurring growth in basketball at the amatuer level. All the youngsters who grew up playing basketball are now getting near the age where they would be the potential season ticket holders.

Basketball is huge in BC.
