I can't say I have seen enough of Penny the last few years to judge him properly.

His stats look horrible, but he has been getting pretty big minutes. I always hear that he is a very smart player and knows the game. I always hear about him tearing up summer league. But his FG% is quite bad, his rebounding isn't where it should be, and his assists are low. But he doesn't hog the ball, and could fit in OK as a bench player.

The only thing going for him is that his contract expires after next season, so I wouldn't HATE trading Rose for him even though we lose out production wise. I think MoP, Lamond, and Mason could take up the slack. Lamond is severely underrated by Raps fans because he has not been able to play much since coming here. He has a great all around game.

With Marshall off the books this year and Penny and Murray off the books next year the Raps could free up over 25 million by the end of next year and could use the MLE each year without having to worry about paying the tax. Maybe even clear up more than the MLE in cap space which means we could outbid many teams for FA's.
