Vince-Miami Rumors Again
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...=tsn&type=lgns
Vince Carter vs. the Raptors
This is more of a case of Vince Carter vs. being stuck in what he increasingly perceives as a go-nowhere situation, about to play for his third coach in as many years. The irony is that Carter was supposed to be the force leading the Raptors to better tomorrows. Instead, he has yearned to play elsewhere and experienced enough injuries to make even the mildest of cynics wonder. The Raptors' problem is they have failed to groom a possible successor as the face of the franchise. Tracy McGrady wanted the spotlight as a free agent. Antonio Davis never seemed to comprehend that Toronto wasn't in upstate New York. Jalen Rose is, well, Jalen Rose. The ultimate resolution is to trade for a charismatic, dynamic, skilled replacement. Based on Carter's current market value, the best the Raptors might be able to do is Eddie Jones.
The decision: Like it or not, the face of today's NBA is a portrait of placating those who grouse loudest. The Raptors have done nothing but try to do right by Carter, but they'll be forced to deal at something less favorable even than the Canadian exchange rate. Still, Toronto is no backwoods burg. The NBA will survive in Canada without Vince, and Toronto might even turn the corner toward an appreciation of greater team play.
-------------------
Heat fans obviously would love this-but what do Raptors fans think? I can't imagine that the market for VC is at best, Eddie Jones. But is it time to make a trade and move on with Bosh as you centerpiece?

I had read on one of the Heat boards that they wouldn't mind an Eddie Jones for Jalen Rose trade.
That is a pretty neutral trade for both teams. Raps get the better defender. Both have bad contracts that go for equal years and close enough money.
Heat don't have anything the Raps would want for VC though.
We would be better off going the Knick route with Vince, Rose, and Alvin going out for TimThomas, Penny, and filler. After next year we could really rebuild with huge cap room.
Neither will happen. If Vince goes, it will likely be out West.

Eddie Jones is 6 years older, has a more unfavourable contract, is just as injury prone(if not more) and can't dominate a game like Vince is capable of doing. Clearly, this is the probably the best we could get. Gotta love a little prejudice in the morning.

I have heard more guys say they dont like Jones in the Dressing room and as a teamate then I have that do
I would say the opposite for Rose, who is known as one of the more liked players in the league, that alone I wouldnt trade Rose for Jones, Raps already have 1 guy like that, and thats more then enough

The only thing the heat have for the Raps is Wade and he's untouchable. another chance is EJ and Udonis maybe a first or Dorrell Wright but thats it.

Well how about this:
Since Jones is not equal to Carter talent wise, Miami is gonna have to eat a contract, and give something up.
Miami trades: SG Eddie Jones (17.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.2 apg in 37.0 minutes)
PG Damon Jones (7.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 5.8 apg in 24.6 minutes)
PF Malik Allen (4.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.4 apg in 13.7 minutes)
Miami receives: SF Vince Carter (22.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes)
PG Alvin Williams (8.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.0 apg in 30.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.8 ppg, -1.0 rpg, and -0.6 apg.
Toronto trades: SF Vince Carter (22.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes)
PG Alvin Williams (8.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.0 apg in 30.9 minutes)
Toronto receives: SG Eddie Jones (17.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.2 apg in 81 games)
PG Damon Jones (7.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 5.8 apg in 82 games)
PF Malik Allen (4.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.4 apg in 45 games)
Change in team outlook: -2.8 ppg, +1.0 rpg, and +0.6 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
It leaves Miami thin, but they have Shaq VC and Wade which is a kick-*** lineup. Vince would love playing with Shaq (who wouldn't)
Their team could be . . .
Shaq
Haslem
VC
Wade
Crooked J
and they would still challenge for the East title.
We could run:
Moiso/Hoffa
Bosh
Rose
Jones
Rafer/Damon
Edit: Damon Jones contract was recently signed, trade restriction until Dec 15. So was Dorrell Wright, whom I would love to get here.

Would Shaq want Vince on "His" team? How would he deal with the criticism if he won a championship with Vince. He supposedly turned down MJ, it seems he wants to win one by himself.
I think a deal could be worked out, we'd definately have to get Dorell Wright and picks though. I'd rather go a different route. Dump a contract or 2.
