A) I am confident he can play centre with his reach and rebounding ability.
B) Chris Bosh and no one else is not great depth at 4, IMO. Sow is still an unknown, Bonner is a perimeter 4 if a 4, but more a big 3 IMO. Yell is gone.

Shelden should be worth 30+ minutes at C when Bosh is at 4, and can slot at 4 when Bosh is off the floor. He's AD or Ben Wallace to me, they can do both.

Re: You make the picks

What this team needs is young talent to grow with Bosh. We need an athletic swingman, a big man, and a PG. We basically need help everywhere. I hope Babcock will go into this year's draft with the mindset of drafting the best player available and not by need.

I'd like to see us draft players that will excell in a run-and-gun offense.

our first pick (6-9th)
1.Gerald Green - He's the type of player I really like to see in a Raptor's uniform - a young athletic swing-man.
2.Raymond Felton/Chris Paul - These 2 love to push the ball and would look great in Mitchell's fast break offense.
3.Chris Taft - The x-factor. He's one of those high risk/high reward type of player. He would be perfect with our 2nd pick though.

Philly's pick (12-15th)
1.Joey Grahem - He's a real bruiser. A Ron Artest/Corliss type of player? I really like his game, but I don't know how his game will translate to NBA.
2.Jerrett Jack - Love his game and his attitude. A leader and also loves to push the ball. If we don't draft a PG with our first pick, I'd like to see us draft him with Phlly's pick.
3.Hakim Warrick - A super athlete. Can he player small forward?

Don't let us down Babcock!

Re: You make the picks

Deron Williams or Raymond Felton since we need a PG who thinks pass first and displays leadership qualities down the stretch...

Shelden Williams or Sean May for interior scoring help to go with Bosh, who isnt a player that plays with his back to the basket offensively like these two guys do...

May, b/c of his performance in March this year has really skyrocketed his stock....without him, UNC goes NOWHERE in this tourney...if he can add 5-10 pounds of muscles, could be a Boozer clone....

Same can be said of Shelden...

Re: You make the picks

Whatever we do, we need to get a PG. Or else Babs better have a miracle trade up his sleeve to get one this offseason.

Another C/PF can wait. Let's see how Hoffa and Sow develop with increased playing time next year. If anything, pick up a relatively cheap vet centre to solidify the front court.

But we NEED a pass first PG VERY, VERY, VERY BAD. No more Palacio, and if I had my way, no more Alston either.

Re: You make the picks

The more I read about this Sheldon Williams the more I'm intrigued to draft him!

Gerald Green with our first pick is a must!

Jarret Jack if available should be our second pick(with out second first round pick that is).

Although if Deron Williams, Chris Paul, or Jarret Jack aren't available I say we draft Sheldon Williams who in my eyes is the next Ben Wallace with more offence (I've seen some of his monster dunks!).

Re: You make the picks

May was off my draft radar mid-year, but after watching his last 11 or 12 games since February, I have come to the conclusion that he is the superior draft prospect to Shelden Williams. His performances against Williams In Duke-UNC I and II convinced me that he was a better player at the college level. Defensively, he is nowhere near the shot blocker that Williams is, but he is a superior rebounder at the next level. Williams may be a better fit because of his 4/5 versatility but May is the better prospect. If Bosh was not on this team, there is no doubt I would take May before Williams.

Shelden has slipped in my eyes in the past couple of months (perhaps because I have watched him more critically) I was in favour of Shelden for quite some time and thought he was underranked when he was out of the first round at the beginning of the year (which was idiotic BTW). Perhaps I am just being a little tough on him because I am vieweing him as a "lotto" player now, but I think he is a college shot blocker a la Etan Thomas. He has been dominated by Sean May twice. If Lawrence Roberts hits some chippies he goes in for a big game against Shelden.

I still think Shelden Williams is more Etan Thomas then say Emeka Okafor or Carlos Boozer. First round pick yes. Can I live with him at 12. If it comes down to Williams or a wing at the 12, then I prefer taking a wing in this draft. I will be disappointed with us picking Shelden at 12 - but he could still certainly prove me wrong.

In watching those Duke UNC games, May got a ton of Gimme rebounds. You can't argue with his FG and FT %, but Lucky777 made an interesting comparison. Lonny Baxter anyone?

Re: You make the picks

couple people have said he looks like Lonny. Maybe a little. Lonny was way more athletic than May though imo. DIdnt' show it much in Toronto, but he was sick in college. I remember Lonny was used as a comparisson for Al Jefferson LOL

heres my comparissons.

Rashad McCants- Voshon Lenard, the year he played here. I want to get this guy if he falls into the 20's. Badly

Sean May- Zach Randolph. Has that thing Zach has where he sinks shots from all angles and thats huge.

Felton- no idea

Warrick- nobody in the nba compares imo

Gerald Green- Vince and McGrady combined with Josh Smith with Ray Allen's jumper

Re: You make the picks

In the first round the top prospects that would fit in with the Raptors are as follows:
1. Deron Williams: If Chris Paul declares Deron Williams will likely be around for the Raptors so long as they don't go on a winning streak and improve their position. He is one the best ball handlers, passers and shooters in this draft and the Raptors organization would be thrilled to acquire him. Team him up with Chris Bosh and you having a promising future. Overall I think he is the best player in this draft and will be a great NBA'er.

2. Raymond Felton: Is a great talent but is ranked significantly lower than the two other top guards (Paul and Williams). He is easily the best passer and controller of the flow of the game in this draft but has a height disadvantage. He could be a great Raptor feeding the ball to Chris Bosh in the post. If Williams is chosen before the Raptors, there should be no worries as Felton is also a great player.

3. Gerald Green: An explosion of raw talent in this young man. He has the potential to be another great player to jump from High School to the NBA. As a high schooler he is a very young meaning he could be groomed in the next year before starting at SG or SF. Would provide a scoring threat to balance that of Bosh and give teams trouble when they play the Raptors. Would be another great addition for the Raptors but ranks lower than Felton and Williams in my book.

Re: You make the picks

I think we maybe forced to take a point guard with our first pick, because with Phillys pick, I don't think Paul(obviously), Deron, Felton, or even Jack will be there.

A lot of people are saying Green and Jack, which would be AWESOME.. but I don't know how realistic that is. Green doesn't look like he will be there with our first pick (especially if the knicks move ahead of us, which it looks like they will) and like I said before the premier points might be gone with our second pick.. so we might have to go

FIRST PICK

Jarrett Jack

SECOND PICK

Hakim Warrick

THIRD PICK
Julius Hodge

FOURTH PICK
Jason Maxiell
