Back to the original point, do you trade Granger for Darko, Green for Darko IMO, NFW. If they are off the board, trade down to NY.

Do you think Darko was drafted with the intention that he'd be ready to contribute in a big way as soon as possible? McDyess is going to give Detroit better minutes unless Darko really progresses quickly, which is hard to make happen considering Detroit's desire to win as many games as possible to secure home court for a deep playoff run. It's a catch-22 in my mind, but I could be crazy.
I probably wouldn't trade Green for Darko, if we could get Green with the 7th pick. I don't think we can. But yes, I would trade Granger/Wright/Felton/Graham or whoever to get him. Skilled 7'ers are very rare, and the Bosh-Milicic(-Araujo) frontcourt could be enough to motor us through to and deep into the playoffs in the coming years.

I'd be willing to say i'd trade #7 and Hoffa for Darko. Would rather see Hoffa rot on D-Towns loaded bench then Darko.
INTO THE LIGHT, AND OUT OF THE DARK-O!
THE DARK-O AGES
HOLY DARKO, BATMAN!
I could go on for ages, unfortunatly, the rest wouldn't make sence... like the batman one.

No, however, They re-upped Sheed for 5 years. Signed McDyess for 4+ option. And should re-up Ben for the money he deserved last time for at least 2-3 years.
Where is Darko in all of this money handed out.
He is going to be due a qualifying offer and extension soon. You'd think they'd want to battle test him before having to make that decision. Or, he is that bad.
You and I both would trade a 3 for a skilled 7 fter. We just disagree on who that 7fter is. You don't trade a piece like 7 for something worse than a question mark.

well i don't know if anyone will offer him more than 8 mill a year and i think dumars would be more than happy to lock him up long term for that kind of money.

We'll see where they are in terms of Luxury Tax by then. 16 million for Darko might be a bit much.

I don't know the details but is the luxury tax even going to be triggered with league revenues so high? It depends how Dumars thinks he will develop but 8mill for a good power forward/center isn't too much to ask when you're trying to form the best frontcourt in the league. And it's not like they should go the route of capspace, they might as well keep their salary up and keep their options open while continuing to build through the draft.
bottom line, we have to see what Darko can do next year with a new coach. he'll still be with a veteran team but he'll have the chance to work his way into the rotation. I see him playing 15+ minutes a game, enough to develop, not nearly enough to boost him to max contract level. do remember Curry and Chandler and Stro et al struggling in situations where playing time was infinitely more available and now they're going to be demanding significant salaries. Dumars won't want to run a frontcourt with no upside, you gotta keep developing.

It's a matter of work ethic and willing to do what it takes in order to play the NBA game. His body is nowhere near where it needs to be in order to be a great NBA player that can take over a game. If he has shown the drive and willingness to get better than I am sure that he would have got more minutes and thats all there is to it. If Darko has shown these attributes then I wouldn't be so against a trade like this.
Peace

Actually i've heard that he has worked pretty hard in the weight room, impressing the likes of Ben Wallace, but one doesn't really know. He certainly has gotten bigger since he came into the league.
