Yeah Grant is probably the only guy they would use to match contracts with Jalen. Both their contracts expire in the same year, but I'd rather have Jalen on my team any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Depending on what they do with Divac, they'll be hard-pressed to make a trade to equal JR's contract. I doubt they want to trade Chucky Atkins, so without picking-up the option on Divac I don't see how they could make a deal like this.
If it's Grant they are offering, no thanks!

What's LA's motivation to move up 3 spots? Besides Kupchak is denying all rumors:

Re: Rumour: Toronto/L.A trade
Grant was playing C for an overachieving Miami club that made the playoffs two years ago, but I agree that it doesn't help us enough to warrant moving down like that and losing Granger or Green.
If they are offering expiring contracts like DevinGeorge, Slava, and players like Mihm/Chucky/CaronButler that could be interesting. But then we are taking up more roster spots which we don't want.
Perhaps on draft day if we take Green at 7 and someone like Bynum or Granger is still around at 10 we would be in a good position to propose a deal.
If the Lakers pick up the IND pick at 17 then they could offer us 10 and 17. Pretty nice.

If we can deal our 16ths pick, and some of our players for Caron Butler and there 16th pick I'd be so happy, but too bad it wont happen

Butler could be a 20+ ppg scorer on our team. Did you see the way he finished the year in Los Angeles? He averaged 22.3 ppg on 46% shooting in April. I don't think the Lakers are in the mood to dish him for anything less than a sure-thing.

Agree! And Butler plays a position that we dearly need a solid start in. The SF position. The kid can also rebound.

Wth Marshall gone and likely Murray too the remaining Vets are Rose, Eric and Aaron williams. I think they want a young team but not too young.

Re: Rumour: Toronto/L.A trade
I don't like this trade. If we're trading Jalen, it'd be to clear up more minutes for Granger/Wright/Green/what-evva... in other words getting a point guard or big man... unless the Lakers can give us Odom (they won't), I'd say no to this trade.

Re: Rumour: Toronto/L.A trade
In the Lakers board one member said a really possible trade would be Caron Butler, Grant #10 for Jalen Rose, and the #7.
