Re: 2002 Behind the Draft GRUNWALD blunders (Joe Johnson, Tayshaun Prince)
Joe Johnson was an underachiever for his first few years. The Celts drafted him and gave up on him, and now you see the Suns were willing to ship him out for just a draft pick. What does that tell you about how ALL nba people valued him at the time. Was Grunwald supposed to have a crystal ball?
Tayshaun Prince has found a great fit in Detroit. Plays a certain role there within a great team system. The Laker trade filled 2 needs. It got us a veteran backup PG in Hunter who has certainly proven what he can do in Detroit (and who Lenny loved), plus it gave us an athletic wing man who was supposed to be a lock down defender and shooter. The one scout really loved Jeffries and knew him from when he was younger. Hard to say if it was the injury that ruined Jeffries, or his pot-head personality.
Kristich was the true sleeper and he took 2 years to bring any value.
Hard to slam Glen with the top 6 busts you mention and all the people who gave up on Joe Johnson.
