the way I look at it, those picks are just assets and should be used to it's fullest potential whether it be keeping them or packaging them in a trade. The VC deal brought us those picks but little else, so turning one pick + Mo/filler into Magloire would be fine with me

Re: Trade(s)/Buyouts/ Movement looming - notice the signs.

i think you guys are giving a little too much love to sow and bonner

sow is not an nba player and likely never will be. if he played on any other team you would have no clue who the hell he is. moiso showed glipses too.

bonner is solid but not worth more than two million a year. when his j is not falling he is aweful and i doubt he has lots more upside. my call is trade him while he has some value.

as for the magloire deal, some of you guys are crazy. there is no way we're getting him for mo pete, bonner and sow. minimum price is mo pete, hoffa, denvers 1, and either woods, a will, or maybe even bonner. i do that in a heartbeat. some will say we lose too much depth but you are confusing depth with having too many bad players that would not play on other teams.

cv3 would take the minutes lost on bonner, hoffa, etc
mags would shore up the middle and take marshal's minutes and we would have a legitimate front court. graham replaces mo pete easily.

we are giving away mediocre talent (which we have too much of anyway) and a pick that could be in the 20's for an all strar center that would fill our most glaring needs on the court and off.

you guys will probably laugh at that trade but i bet you if we present that to them they'd say no (unless they're high on bonner)

Re: Trade(s)/Buyouts/ Movement looming - notice the signs.

I think one of the major things that the raptors lack are players who have really quality character. No offense to the other guys on the team but Mo and Bonner are a couple of the best examples of hard working guys who will buy into doing exactly what the team needs them to do. They are also committed to bringing a winning product to the floor in TO.

Of all the guys on the team besides bosh I think I would be most disappointed if one or both of Bonner and Mo get traded. Although Magliore or someone else might bring the same sort of thing, the raptors have always struggled to keep together a core of players dedicated to TO and trading these guys seems like a step in the wrong direction.

On the other hand, I would love it if Babcock could offload any of Eric/Aaron Williams, Woods, Murray, Araujo or sign and trade Donyell.

Re: Trade(s)/Buyouts/ Movement looming - notice the signs.

We need to stick with our youth movement and let them develop. We shouldn't trade too much for Magloire. I'm all for a trade if it involves S&Ting donyell, getting rid of some of the Williams, and having to only trade either Sow or Bonner.
I would really be against having to trade any of our picks from this year. I also think Araujo can at the very least become someone who sets good picks, blocks shots, gets putbacks, and rebounds like a madman. We can't keep giving Araujo inconsistent minutes and expect him to become good. I give him another season before declaring him a bust.
Basically, we trade away as little as possible for Mags or sign him as an FA and at the same time develop our core as it is. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Trade(s)/Buyouts/ Movement looming - notice the signs.

There's an espn insider rumor that Mobley is going to Denver. That would be a major fill in to their void at sg. That means our pick will be a very low first rounder. If we are going to get some value from this '1st' round pick (very late) we might as well trade it to get Magloire.

agree... if New Orlean wants our first for Mags i'll do it but nothing more.

filler + 1st pick = Magolire

I agree. I wouldn't hesitate to move the denver pick if a decent deal came along. I expect that with the 19 yr age limit coming into effect next years draft won't be nearly as deep as this years so im not even sure how likely you are to find value in a pick from a low-mid level playoff team.

mags isn't the only bigman alive.

gadzuric, for example, is younger, longer, quicker, and a very aggressive rebounder. he'd come way cheaper, too. if we can pull him away from milwaukee we'd have a stockpile of aggressive bigmen. we can go after boards hard. plattooning bigs around fouls like seatle did.

possibly but that team could implode Coach Karl is hit or miss plus Kenyon and Carmello are both capable of breaking down emotionally or physically.

Bonner for certain - Mo comes and goes during the duration of the season. He did play the best ball of his career during the final quarter of the season - however he is a bench player on any playoff team to this point. Also I think he was being show cased since the Vince trade.

The Raps worked him out under the old regime (Grunwald) they liked him. Jim Kelly, Pettie Triano and some of the others are still here from that era so they may make a push for him - I would say signing him would be an improvement however it would have to mean moving Aaron, possible hoffa or sow because there are two many players at the 4-5 spot unless they are serious about getting CV3 and CB4 time at the 3 spot.
