It isn't Babcock's job to get this team to the playoffs right now. That's the job of the coaches and players. It's the job of the manager to make good decisions as to the make-up of the roster and the direction of the franchise. It's his J-O-B to provide the team with the tools necessary to succeed, and pushing to make the playoffs with a team that could never make noise in the post season is seen, by some, as taking one step forward and two steps backward.

No chance in hell Portland accepts that trade. They would be trading their youth in Telfair, Patterson and Outlaw for crappy players

The premise is not to structure a squad that qualifies for postseason play, but to challenge for the championship... What's the point of just bein' good enough to get into the playoffs just to be ousted over and over again? Better to take more lumps now and stock up on players that'll have you as one of the legitimate frontrunners for collectin' hardware year in, year out... That's how I see the master plan...

Babs said when he was first hired our goal is not to put a team that will just make the playoffs (year in year out lose i.e Grundwald's philosophy) but to build a legitimate contender.

part 1 of the Vc trade compensation has been given, only time will tell what Villanueva becomes willl he be the next Odom putting up Lamar stats by next year as it is unclear how minutes he will get Lamar put up 16/7 in 36 MPG as a rookie. We are likely looking at 25 MPG max so i'm thinking 13/6, will CV3 consistently put up double doubles? or be better (next Sheed/Cliff Robinson (in prime).

Grahem has potential to be the next defensive Artest with a bit less offence i.e 03 Artest 18/5 at best.

Ukic was steal is he the next tony Parker has all the tools to be a above average PG.

I think we can defenetely be a 500 or a bit better team if CV3 & Grahem can help in the areas we lacked last year (close games out) Villanueva to get those rebounds no one could last year and Grahem to bring some hard nose D.

I think we will be looking at 2 picks in the 20's.

pending we finish at least 5 games over 500.

hahahaha that trade has as much chance as trading Vince Carter for aaron and eric williams.. hah.. im playing.. that trade is horrible..

But we won't be giving it up if we DON'T make playoffs. We probably won't have to give it up even if we do. I still can't believe Cleveland ended up giving two picks to the Bobcats: for what?
