Personally i think he did the smart thing and gave the team an extra 1/2 year to gel.

And moving Carter was addition by subtraction.

Apparently (could just be another rumour for all we know), he's made an agreement of sorts.

LAS VEGAS - It was no way on Nene.
The Denver Nuggets weren't about to part with their young power forward in a sign-and-trade deal with Sacramento. So it appears Kings free-agent shooting guard Cuttino Mobley is bound for the Los Angeles Clippers.
"That's what I'm hearing," Nuggets coach George Karl said Tuesday at the Vegas Summer League.
Indications are Mobley will get a five-year deal worth about $42 million plus incentives.

Re: Now that Simmons is a Buck
The Philly pick looked like a sure lotto pick when the trade was made. The risk was actually having Philly finish bottom 8 and it being protected. Plus the pick was for THIS YEAR and we needed bodies in right away to get this team headed in the right direction.
The Nuggets went through 2 coaches early in the season and only made their great run late in the year, barely making the playoffs. That pick looked pretty good at the time too.
I can't remember what the Clips record was at that point but I believe they were top 8 in the West, ahead of the Lakers and Nuggets. The Clips tend to fall apart later in the season.
Its a bit much to expect any GM to know where each nba team will finish in the standings. And don't guarantee Denver will finish higher than the Clips before the season has even begun. The Cavs should have been in the playoffs each of the last 2 years and self-destructed.

Re: Now that Simmons is a Buck
Clippers are retarded.
They let Bobby Simmons go because they didn't want to pay him 47 million dollars, and then they go out and sign a much worse player in Cuttino Mobley for just 5 million less? Why not just pay the 5 million and get yourself a much better player? Morons.

Gotta agree. Rumours last year were that Maggette, Brand, and Simmons had trouble sharing the ball. With Mobley for Simmons, the problem gets even worse.
Clips gotta hope that Livingston develops enough to distribute the ball to make everyone happy.

Re: Now that Simmons is a Buck
i would have let simmons go for that money and the players already in the fold.
i see it as the clipps having to choose between maggette and simmons. maggette at the two hurt them. he just doesn't have the guard skills that are needed to get the most out of that position. (my concern with graham).
daniels, saranus are both better options, imo. i'm not a fan of mobley, but he brings a skillset to the table that they need and allows them to move corey back to the 3. their longer-term plan is probable to move maggette to the two once korolev is ready--giving them guard play from the forward position. but until then, maggette at the three is a stronger lineup
