Who Needs To Be Moved? How To Get Rid Of Them?
Babcock definately needs to cut down on our roster this off-season, but how will he do it? Who should be moved, and how should Babcock get rid of them?
Here is our lineup as of right now...
Alston/Ukic/Cook
Mo Pete/Alvin Williams
Jalen Rose/Joey Graham/Eric Williams/Lamond Murray
Chris Bosh/Charlie/Bonner/Uros Slokar/Aaron Williams
Rafael Araujo/Pape Sow/Loren Woods

Murray's gotta go. Slokar probably won't make the team.
Woods vs. Sow could happen. Woods has a cheap contract but it looks like he's never going to get better. Sow has a lot of energy and hustle but he's still unsigned.

Re: Who Needs To Be Moved? How To Get Rid Of Them?
Is it just me ... or does anyone else see the benefit of moving MoPete to another team ? I find his inconsistency so frustrating in that one never knows what is going to show up on game night. He is at his best when finishing a fast break, but we don't seem to have that down pat as we really have to improve the defensive rebounding aspect of our game if that is ever to take-off. Surely packaging him with one or two of our other souls would help alleviate the logjam that we have on our roster and provide the floor time needed for our newest players. And while some will say that he brings a defensive intensity that others do not, even that I am not too convinced about. Is it just me ... ??

Well Mo Pete's inconsistancy has been a constant topic of discussion when evaluating his game. He ended the season very well, and I'm really hoping he can continue that going into next season. Looking back though, he is not too pricey IMO. I think it was a pretty good deal for us. He's grown on me over the years. He's still fairly young, he plays with passion, and is a very good defender.
I wouldn't be totally against trading him, unless we actually get something decent in return. Any ideas?

I actually hope Slokar makes the team speedy. I rather him then Aaron Williams, Lammon Murray, Milt, and Loren Woods

Well I would be shocked if Milt got resigned. I'd be almost as surprised if Lamond Murray is still on our roster come October. We also need to somehow get rid of Aaron Williams as well. I don't really mind Loren Woods, since he's a 7 footer and comes fairly cheap.
I just don't think Slokar is ready for NBA basketball yet. I've seen a couple of video clips of him in action. He's played basketball since a very young age, and it's pretty evident because he is quite comfortable with the ball in hands. But I think it would really help him a lot, much like it helped Bonner, if Slokar can go spend a year or two in Europe to further develop his game. He won't be able to improve much sitting on the bench for us behind Bosh, Charlie and Bonner.

He can go to the D-League now, too.

Re: Who Needs To Be Moved? How To Get Rid Of Them?
i'm not sure how management is evaluating our current roster positions but, in the absence of any free agent activity, i see the following players having their names written with an insecure marker:
- lamond murray
- loren woods
- uros slokar
- omar cook
i'd put the bottom two several rungs higher on the ladder if not for some public statements made by babcock and mitchell in the recent past. slokar is getting real love from our management team, to the point where they appear to view him as a second-round steal. cook's also been big-upped several times by sam publicly, and while i wouldn't keep him on the team myself, i'm not the coach/manager here and i wouldn't be surprised if they were to feel otherwise.
a lot of this is irrelevant, though (imo), since i expect us to make a significant foray (relatively speaking) into the free agent market. we'll see what happens in the end...
peace

Re: Who Needs To Be Moved? How To Get Rid Of Them?
is there a way were we can package lamond and a-train for future draft picks like rights to a 2nd rnd 07 pick?

Buyout Lamond Murray
Cut Loren Woods
Trade A-Train
That's about it for now...

Re: Who Needs To Be Moved? How To Get Rid Of Them?
i don't think we'll see Murray, E.Will, Aa.Will, Woods or Slokar on the team next year.
Cook has a good chance to make it if Alvin Williams doesnt rebound from injury.
I think we should also sign Marcus Haislip.
Rafer Alston/Roko Ukic/Alvin Williams (or Omar Cook)
Morris Peterson/Matt Bonner/Rose
Jalen Rose/Joey Graham
Charlie Villanueva/Bosh/Marcus Haislip
Chris Bosh/Rafael Araujo/Pape Sow

Man, we really could have used A-train in 2003-2004 and now he basically serves no purpose other than being a veteran that won't complain much if not played.
