Eric Williams 2005/2006
I was wondering what you guys think should be done with Eric Williams. As you all know, last season wasn't a good year for him. He got traded away from his home in NJ, to a team where he couldn't find any playing time. It was widely reported that Eric Williams demanded a trade, but it seems that all of those talks cooled down as the season came to an end.
What do you guys think of his status for the 2005/2006 season?
Although I know some people on this board are very fond of Eric Williams(ie: speedy), but I just don't know how we can actually think things for him will be any better next year. I mean heck, he barely found any time behind Jalen Rose last season. How is he supposed to find time behind Jalen, and Joey Graham this season? Factor in that Matt Bonner will probably play more time at the 3 with Charlie's arrival, I just can't see Eric Williams getting consistant minutes on this team.
What should Babcock do?

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
Honestly I don't see where he fits in and where he'll find playing time. He's not an uptempo SF and his defense seems to have dropped off. The end of the bench may be the place for him but having capable vets unhappy riding the pine is no way to build chemistry.

Not possible for a while anyway. Also, you can't trade MLEs which they want better return on anyway...along with their trade exeption.

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
I see Eric as being a pawn to help trade Murray to another team, I would take a bottle of gatorade in return.
Peace

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
No room for both Jalen and EWill. They both need major PT and will sulk if they don't get it. One of them HAS to go. No way around that.
I would rather have EWill personally. He can give us 12/5 every night and make us a better defensive unit. The extra few points Rose can deliver are not worth the negatives he brings.

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
E Will's defence is over-rated and for a good portion of the year he moped around the court with lacklustre play and was apparently shocked when he got benched, he didnt want to be here and it showed in his play
hopefully him, A train and Lamond are gone by next year, the Jersey trade was just a train wreck

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
Cut him.
History indicates he could have a bad attitiude and he adds little value to the team. He has no trade value

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
He's somewhat undersized to be truly effective and may be better served comin' off the bench... For all the platitudes strewn about his character prior to his arrival, his petulant manner upon not receivin' playin' time pretty much negated that talk... That behavior didn't exactly scream team first...
I'm not sure where he fits in, to be honest... I know he was selected 14th overall comin' out of Providence, but I wasn't blown away by his play w/ the Friars durin' his collegiate career...
Is he a tradeable commodity? If so, maybe best to package him along w/ some combination of Murray, Aaron Williams, Rose, and/or Alston... Be happy w/ some draft picks in return as opposed to current players...

Re: Eric Williams 2005/2006
murray & aa.williams are guys that must be gone, Eric is a guy we could live with, would'nt get a whole lot of PT but I think until a trade comes up he could live with 6-8 minutes.
swingman PT
SG Peterson 28 Grahem 10 A.Williams 5 E.Williams 5
SF Rose 32 Grahem 9 Bonner 5 E.Williams 2
Murray does'nt fit has pathatic work ethic is a must to go negative precence
A-Train well there is no room for him
PF, C PT
PF Bosh 36 Villanueva 4 Bonner 7 Sow 1
C Aruaja 22 Villanueva 20 Sow 6
I know Hoffa's PT is escalataeed by 8 minutes but I dont think they will want to rush Charlie into the C spot with over 20 minutes, I do feel Hoffa will be much better and could gives us 20 decent minutes, he's gonna be working hard next couple of months asnd thst should lead to better play, he just in his mind has to learn to avoid certian things the cheap fouls, basketball is not that new to him and I think he has the brain to pick up things unlike Radovich
Sow if retained is your garbadge man cleaning up things the end of qtr's and giving breathers here and there, I think with the arrival of Villanueva Bonner's PT will be cut by 50%, we know that Bosh is probebly get the same PT at PF and the left over time is not much, I assume they will at times when Bosh is fatigued use Villanueva to give him a breather and so that we have a almost as good low post playe | |
