Re: Roster problems
If Joey G ever starts at the 2, he'll be one of the 5 worst starting SG's in the league.
He's a SF at best, guys. Darvin Ham couldn't play the two (watch them....somewhat similar players). Marion certainly couldn't play the 2 (JG's best case scenario is a poor man's marion, IMO).
He's a 2-sized 3/4. That doesn't make him a 2.

How about a trade of Lamond and Aaron for Bonzi. All deals expiring. Or would EWill and Aaron be more interesting to Memphis.
Deal would clear one roster spot up for Toronto immediately, and who knows if Bonzi even reports. Could buy him out for 5-6 mill if he doesn't want to be here. Or keep him as an athletic wing player to push MoP, Jalen, and Joey for PT.
If we piss off Jalen badly enough by moving him to the bench who knows what type of buyout he might take, LOL.

That's a pretty decent idea IMO ...
Sure Wells doesn't really fits the new Raps philosophy ... but he is a talented player and he could play the 2 for us ... and if the experience doesn't work out you just let him go next year ... low risk move IMO

I wouldn't want Wells here. He's been complaining about not getting enough playing time in Memphis, even though they are a winning team. Imagine here. I still don't see him getting a lot of minutes with Rafer and Ukic playing. This could cause more locker room problems that Sam Mitchell and Rob Babcock don't want to be apart of.

Wells isn't a PG ...
He's a 2 or a 3 ...
We only have Mo, Jalen and Graham who are worth the playing time ...
I would prefer take my chance with Bonzi than Lamond, Eric or whoever we have now ...
Plus like I said, his contract is in his final year ...

Re: Roster problems
I have been posting about the Raps serious roster problems for months now.
There is no easy way to fix it. These guys are completely untradeable at this time (Free Agency).
Until all the Free Agents better than Aaron Williams and Lamond Murray are signed (for the NBA minimum) no-one will take these players in a trade. Not for a used pair of sneakers. Not even Isiaih.
We are going to have to buy one of them out. Alvin Williams if he doesn't pass his physical, otherwise Lamond.
And then we'll need to try a trade where we give up two lousy overpaid players for one lousy even more overpaid player.
We have no decent NBA centers. Like realistically, we have something like the 47th and 55th best centers. It should be a crisis if your best center is like 30th. This is worse than a crisis.
But, we have 5 power forwards and 5 small forwards!
(Seriously, MoPete and Jalen are better at SF, while Joey, Eric and Lamond are pure SF.)
BAAAADDDD roster management.

Re: Roster problems
I don't want Bonzi Wells near any of our young players. The deal only works if we do a two for one, and then buy him out, basically clearing two roster spots. He is a malcontent, I now he's been a better citizen in Memphis than in Portland, but that doesn't make him desireable.
Free agent SG's that I would take look at if we had roster space:
Juan Dixon
Willie Green
Dajuan Wagner
Kareem Rush
Flip Murray
Damien Wilkins
These guys are all likely to be career back ups, but would come fairly cheap.
Re: Wagner / Dixon the "small scoring gaurds" this might work out on the Raps better than most teams. Having two 6'5" PG's on the bench in Ukic and Boogie gives us the flexibilit yto put them defensively on SG's and let Wagner or Dixon Guard PG's.

I don't know about that.
Joey is definitely capable of guarding the 2, but playing it is another thing.

With a guy like Rose or Charlie on the floor as well, we'll be fine with Graham covering twos.

Re: Roster problems
Bonzi Wells wouldnt fit well with us, especially if we are trying to give our younger guys PT. It would be a waste of money for him to sit on his ***

Re: Roster problems
Well Babcock has a lot of mess to clean up on this roster some lefted by Grunwald and some of his own mess Ive thought long and hard and there isnt a clean cut answer to how to fix our roster.. IMO the best possible way to clean this mess is to just let our players contracts expire. That might be the best possible way to get out of this mess.
Also i like the fact that NewYork has 2 massive expiring contracts in A.Hardaway and T.Thomas if we can pull a trade suchas:
Aaron Williams
Eric Williams
Lamond Murray
For
Tim Thomas
This would leave with 2 roster spots and have an exipiring contract in Thomas to unload during next season.
