Roster problems
I am getting excited for the 05-06 season. We have three rookies and three sophmores to watch, along with some good veteran talent, and a budding allstar. However it is actually impossible for us not to make at least one more move for the simple reason that we have 16 people on our roster.
1: Rafer/Ukic/ Cook (mitchell said he wanted 3 pgs)
2:Mo pete/alvin williams
3: Jalen Rose/Joey Grahem/ lamond murray/eric williams
4: CB4/CV3/Bonner/Aa Williams
5: Hoffa/Woods/soh
So what is going to happen? perhaps resigning bonner is not such a grand idea

Re: Roster problems
Get rid of Lamond Murray and Aaron Williams immediately. Next on the list would be Loren Woods, followed by Eric Williams.

Re: Roster problems
We do have 3 pg's now ... Alston, Ukic and Alvin Williams. Alvin and Ukic can probably get some backup sg minutes. I doubt we are going to get Cook now that we have secured Ukic.
We have 15 players in our roster;
Alston / Ukic / Alvin W.
Rose / Eric W. /
Peterson / Graham / Murray
Villanueva / Bonner / Sow / Aaron W.
Bosh / Araujo / Woods
The lineup is puzzling ... as we will need to have Bosh at the 5. I see Villanueva and Bonner splitting minutes at the 4. I see Araujo and Woods backing up center to Bosh (sigh) depending on the other team's matchup. Ukic will play behind Alston and may get upgraded as he proves himself. Alvin Williams may surprise people and get some good minutes at SG this year. I feel that someone will get injured this year for an extended period ... requiring Graham to step up and log minutes (a good thing).
If raptors management really want to make a significant push this season, they should take advantage of trading ending contracts for Murray and Aaron Williams.

Re: Roster problems
Babs is going to make some trades this summer.
As you said- A-Train and Lamond are probably traded.
The big question is- what do we get in return?
Draft picks? One player instead of two?
What do you think is best?
I'm not so sure..

There's alot of crap there.
As a Rap fan its number 347 out of my 348 concerns for this team, #348 being that silly pad that Babcock uses at games.

i don't think Raptors will trade Lamond Murray because he is free agent at end of the season. If they trade him it would around the trade dead line. Aaron WIlliams he could be used to play center some times. Alvin Williams is unlikely that he will play again. We have a lot of small forwards though they have to get rid of some!

Re: Roster problems
Murray is cancer and will not be part of the lineup at the beginning of the season. If they can't trade him, they will buy is lazy chucking *** out.
It is my understanding that Woods has a team option for this year which the raptors to this point have not picked up. So I assume he will probably leave to free agency.
Aa Williams has some value for the team as a backup C but will likely be one of the first names tossed around in all trade talk because there is always demand for workable Cs especially with expiring contracts.
These 3 are my candidates for the most likely players to go. Hopefully the raptors can pull a trade packaging these guys likely for salary purposes for 1 overpaid but useful player ie a SG or C

Re: Roster problems
This is what worries me about Babcock.....i suspect he will pull some minor tweaks and not pull off a major move. Yet he drafts 2 kids who hopefully spend most of their time at SF......while we have 14 small forwards on our roster.
We should have drafted a SG at 16.

Who was that SG, though?
Villanueva will spend most of his time at PF, IMO. And Graham is the only SF that matters on our roster right now anyways.

Gerald Green
Say what you want....we aren't going to have enough time for Joey Graham anyway, esp with Charlie CV.
May as well have taken the time to develop GG.

Re: Roster problems
Are you telling me that Joey Graham cannot guard twos? Of course he can.
So he is not the prototypical offensive player at 2. That is where the versatility of a Charlie V and Chris Bosh comes into play. They can hit from the outside, and Charlie V and Bosh can both handle the ball, which lessens the need to have a great ball handling two. With two of your inside players already being jump shooters, is it so bad having a defensive specialist at 2, who can hit the open J fairly decently, and can try to create a few easy scores a game.
I don't think Graham projects to a 16-20 ppg scorer out of the two. But he is a 10-13 ppg guy, with lockdown capabilities at the 2-3. With versatile players, he can play the 2.

Sounds like Bruce (Lee) Bowen =)
I agree with you. Joey can definatly play the 2 well.

Re: Roster problems
Memphis seems desperate to move Bonzi Wells and his 8 mill salary, expiring.
How about a trade of Lamond and Aaron for Bonzi. All deals expiring. Or would EWill and Aaron be more interesting to Memphis.
Deal would clear one roster spot up for Toronto immediately, and who knows if Bonzi even reports. Could buy him out for 5-6 mill if he doesn't want to be here. Or keep him as an athletic wing player to push MoP, Jalen, and Joey for PT.
If we piss off Jalen badly enough by moving him to the bench who knows what type of buyout he might take, LOL.
