Toronto Star: Raptors tip off season at home
Quote:
The Raptors won't have the NBA to blame if they get off to a slow start this season.
The team will play six of its first seven and seven of its first 10 regular-season games at home, the league announced yesterday, an improvement over the schedule of a year ago when Toronto faced a pair of six-game road trips in the first five weeks of the season.
And the opening few nights of the regular season will seem like old boys' nights around the Air Canada Centre as the fans can renew acquaintances — and likely hostilities — with Vince Carter and the New Jersey Nets on Friday, Nov. 4, while Donyell Marshall and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in Toronto on Monday, Nov. 7.
The Raptors open the regular season at home to Washington on Nov. 2 and close it in Chicago on Wednesday, April 19, 2006.
While local and Canadian television schedules are still to be announced, the Raptors are once again an afterthought to programmers in the United States. ABC, TNT, ESPN and ESPN2 have all taken a pass on games involving Toronto, although it's possible some late-season games could be added to the schedule if the Raptors somehow manage to climb into the playoff race...

We're opening against the Wizards again, like we did that dreaded 2002-03 season. Ugh.

By the looks of things, it seems as though our first two home games will be sold out.
