Mo Pete Soon To Go?

No article just me speculating.

Mo is tearing it up right now and if we are looking to move younger do you think that Rob might use his recent play to snatch up some young players? Would you want him moved or do you want him here next year?

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

I love the guy, but if the right offer came along I would be all for trading him and wish him luck wherever he went. But what young players could we trade for exactly? Maybe someone like Marquis or Howard?? But I don't see him being traded any time seen.

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

Unless an offer was overwhelming, I think Mo Pete will stay on as that 'young vet' Rob is looking to have on the squad. That aside, I don't think we want to go too young.

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

No way I let Mo Pete go anytime soon, he't the only constant for the Raptors right now. Hes developing into a leader and is a great influence on our young guys

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

I think we might have considered it if we'd lived up to Rob's fairly low expectations

can't see us moving him now. Rob knows we're walking a fine line with Bosh as it is

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

Mo-Pete should still be at his peak or just off peak years from 2007-2010 (28-31). It does not make sense to trade him - if he would be 32-35 over those years, then by all means move him.

Only trade him if we can't resign him or he wants too much... otherwise I have always maintained that he is a good role player (4th/5th starter) or rotation bench player on a very good team.

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

this whole idea of "getting younger" is, i think, going a bit too far. imo, a youth movement doesn't mean grabbing 12 players under 22 yo. i think we're already bordering on the ridiculous in terms of our roster for 06-07, i would be absolutely reluctant/unwilling to go any further.

more picks, more kids, more picks, more kids- you have to draw the line somewhere. and mop? when did he get old? he still has the majority of his career ahead of him. while it's just my opinion, man, i think he's the perfect veteran for our team's learning curve. jalen's on the back end of his career but mop is just getting started. first of all, getting rid of him, imo, would not allow us equal value in return. i think he's worth more than you could realize on the trade market. second, he's a proven commodity- even if we were to get "equal value" in the form of picks and/or prospects, why take the gamble? the rest of our roster is loaded with "gambles", i'd be satisfied to just keep mop along for the ride. he's a safety asset for those of us who are risk averse.

i might be alone here but it's important to keep it in mind: at some point, we have to draw the line.

peace

MoP is a young player and should be included in Babcocks plan.

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

I completely agree with Ballocks.

We don't want to turn into Atlanta, where the captains of the team don't have enough leadership and experience to lead the team. MoPete will still be in his prime, or close to it, when we start hitting our stride.

Let's also not forget that MoPete is a true Raptor, despite him signing an offer sheet with NO (who can blame him really? It's simply a standard procedure of free agency, so that your team will resign you). He's been with us since he's been drafted, through thick and thin, and has never really complained. He's also one of the guys who knows Canada the most: I remember once in a TSN or Sportsnet interview, Paul Jones was asking trivia questions about Canada to certain players, and MoPete had to whisper the answers into Jalen's ear most of the time. The only other Rap to be consistently correct was Bonner (with his above 3.0 GPA :P)

The only way I trade Mo Pete is in a package for a younger, better player.

Re: Mo Pete Soon To Go?

I wouldn't be surprised, but he's one of the veterans that we probably should keep around.
