Tempting, but I think it would be alot more vengeful if Bosh does sign the dotted line.

i believe otr is replayed the following day at noon (with the previous days telecast), so if you want, you can probably set your vcr to tape it for tmw..

Well, i guess that toronto probably wont be signing any big free agents either, so it doesnt matter as much.
Anyways, its great that bosh said he would remain a raptor, it just seems like if he were, on the lakers for example, this wouldn't be such an issue.

Bosh max and Garnett max are totally different

I think Bosh's max contract would start at around 12 mil with annual raises of the 12%

When Garnett signed his contract there weren't any max contract, the first draft to have the max contract was the 1998 draft.
All the other players
0-6 years of service: 25% of Salary Cap ($12 million this year).
7-9 years of service: 30% of Salary Cap ($14.4 million this year).
10 or more years of service: 35% of Salary Cap ($16.8 million this year).
So all the other players that signed big contracts before the 1999 CBA the max does apply to them however once they became free agent they only qualify for percentage increase from there old contract

i had the same feeling when it was time to resign carter, so i definetly think CB will be back. CB already said earlier that he would like to play his career with one team if he could and his resigning also depends on the progresses of the rookies and the team in general, and if villnaeuva and calderon continue to play the way they are doing and if the raps continue to to play well and show improvement than bosh is a lock.

Well everyone is so paranoid about bosh leaving. Im just saying it sucks that toronto has to give the max to any and all great players to have a hope of keeping them. I dont think bosh is a top 10 player in
the NBA now. I know that other teams have to pay alot for players that arent super elite also. ( i think portland gave rasheed a max contract too.) I have to admit i dionnt know about the CBA.

Based on Bosh's level of play at such a young age, I think Bosh would be given the max regardless of where he plays. I think the thing that people bring up when talking about big market teams is the additional revenue available in terms of being in a major market city like LA and NY, which I personally don't buy because there are so many other things happening in those cities. Kobe Bryant would make just as much from his sponsors if he played for the Pacers or Bucks or Blazers. Players with loads of talent and good looks/demeanor will make lots of money from sponsors regardless of where they are. I wouldn't call Minnesota and Cleveland major markets, but KG and Lebron seem to be doing okay for themselves.
F***, I always digress away from the main point, anyway, Bosh is a max player on any team.

Dude it's not just Toronto... it's everyone. Bosh is a max player and he will get a max contract, period. I feel much better giving a player like Bosh the max than giving a guy like Redd, who also got the max or close to it, a similar contract. It's going on all around the league.... it's not just in Toronto. If the Raptors don't give him a max contract, someone else will, and then the Raptors will just match. Simple and plain.

are you really serious? all star players are pretty much max contract and Bosh is considered one of the best power forwards in the NBA right now and he is only 21

Anyone that doesn't think Bosh is worth the max is crazy.

Re: OTR: Bosh confident he'll remain a Raptor
The knuckleheads in the Toronto sports media always get local fans riled up by creating a crisis and saying the reigning superstar is going to leave.
Remember the 2 years before Vince Carter became a free agent? It was accepted as truth that he was going to the Knicks, or the Bulls, etc... Then he re-signed with no problem.
Carlos Delgado heading to free agency after the 2000 season? "oh ya, he's going to the Yankees, the Marlins to be closer to Puerto Rico, blablabla....". Then he re-signed with no problem.
Now, everyone is saying "Bosh is on the first plane out of here after next season" - it's BS.
If Toronto sportswriters were on a plane, as soon as the plane encountered a patch of turbulence, they'd all stand up and say: "THE PLANE IS GOING DOWN!!! WE'RE ALL FINISHED!! WE HAVE ONE MINUTE TO LIVE!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!"
The radio and TV guys just accept whatever is in print as fact.
That's why boards like this one are great for b-ball fans - you get a spectrum of informed opinions and you can draw your own conclusions.

you can blame sports writers all you want.. but the proof is in the pudding.
Phil Jackson got fined for tampering.

If the Raps continue to improve and win, he'll sign for the max.
If they regress, he'll leave and I will not blame him.
