How will this effect Sam's coaching
will Hoffa EVER see the floor again?
will the Vets start playing huge minutes?
will Pape end up on the bench again?
(I think Mike James takes over almost completely from Jose. Hoffa never sees the floor again. Pape gets used once in a while, but rarely. EWill or Jalen take Joey's minutes. Charlie will still play, but the leash will be a lot shorter)

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
The proverbial Sword of Damacles is hanging over his head by a thread now. Every decision he makes will be heavily scrutanized. If he was under pressure before, double it now.
He might be chummy with Embry and Peddie but it won't save him. As we know with Peddie, he will stick a knife in anyone for self preservation. As for Embry he has no job stability himself so if the board suggests Mitchell isn't the right man for the job, Sam will be fired.
And Sam is definitely going to be fired.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
Sam is a lame duck. He has no idea who his new boss will be or if he will be fired this summer. Players generally sense weakness and stop listening to the coach in this situation. Bzdelik is a prime example.
GM's like to hire their own coach. This is bad news.
How can Bosh make a decision until he knows Sam's fate and gets a feel for the new GM.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
I think Embry is the only guy with any security.
He has clearly supplanted McCloskey as the Board's 'guru of basketball'. The board didn't really want to trade Vince. I think that is the sore spot in all this.

If McCloskey and Peddie aren't fired/reassigned than we are doomed to repeat our mistakes.

Bosh is gone .. believe it ... !!!
Against Chicago he was bushed in the first quarter and cannot endure shoring up what is degenerating into a James-Rose hogball show .... it's too physically and emotionally draining trying to rationalize the MLSE snafus for the last 2 1/2 years .... it's a demotivating work and career situation for Bosh .... regardless of what he states publicly.
Hockey-puck brained MLSE executives cannot manage the NBA Raptors ... and that is only too evident now .... bye bye Bosh.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
A plausible cause for keeping Sam is that Peddie would rather let the new GM decide Sam's fate, rather than replacing Sam now and then possibly going through another coaching change when the GM takes over.
Honestly, if Sam can withstand the barrage that was Novembert, I think he manage the Rob firing and what it could mean for his future.

agree on the James-Rose hogball show. It's gonna pick up steam now too imo.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
Sam is probably happy that Babcock was fired. No more talk of having to play the young guys. Hell maybe Eric and Aaron can move into the starting lineup and Hoffa, Joey and Jose can be moved to the inactive list permanently.
In terms of Sam's coaching, there's really nowhere to go but up. But I still have my doubts that it will happen

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
I can see Sam trying to save his own behind now.
Generally play the vets over the rookies, but ensure the rooks get enough minutes to keep the powers that be happy.
All in all, I don't think it's ideal. Yet another negative from this whole Babcock fiasco.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
There's still an upper management here that will want Sam Mitchell to play the young guys. If anything, this will not force him to start Araujo every game. Whew.

Re: How will this effect Sam's coaching
He's going to play the veterans more, to try and win as many games as possible.
Which means I'll be watching less Raptor games.
