Should We Trade Mike James To The Heat?
Pat Riley on the Heats point guard situation...
-- Palm Beach Post ( www.palmbeachpost.com )
Heat coach Pat Riley, however, isn't sure Fitch is the answer and he's debating whether Miami needs to look for another point guard.
"We have to wait and see on that," Riley said. "It depends on how long Jason's going to be out. If he hadn't cut his finger, he'd be playing. But we like (Fitch) as a young player. He's a third point guard. That's basically what we brought him in for, to develop him. We think he has a lot of upside. It reminds me of when Mike James was here that first year. We didn't have a lot of confidence in Mike, but it just took awhile."
The problem is the Heat doesn't have a while. It has assembled a veteran group to win a title, and if Williams isn't around — he's already battling right knee tendinitis, and Riley said Monday he'd be out for 12 days after having the six stitches put into his right ring finger — the Heat has a big hole to fill.
He mentioned MJ in the article so I don't know if he is hinting at anything...
Anyways, Mike James will likely opt out and the end of the season unless we do one of two things... win our division or win the NBA championship (both of which will not happen). So, would we be able to give the Heat Mike James?
Fitch is their third option right now and I'm sure they'd be much happier with James rather than Fitch. Gerald is only 25, I think, and could be an instrumental part of our future because he does have quite a bit of upside...However, he could just turn out to be a streaky 3-point shooter and we already have too many of those.
Their other highly regarded youngsters are Wayne Simien of Kansas (who we do not need) considering we already have Charlie V and Bonner who play behind Bosh. Their other is a guy who they took in the 2004 draft (14th overall), and is 20 years old - drafted out of high school. He's an above par shooter with good ballhandling skills and is freakishly athletic. He plays the 2, so he could back-up Mo Pete allowing Graham to take the 3 (assuming Rose gets shipped).
Fitch was recently signed so he cannot be traded...yet.
Do you guys think we could get a legitimate deal by sending Mike James to the Heat?

Doleac is someone that has repeatedly come up in rumours involving the Raptors. The problem with him is that he is an offensive-minded centre without much grit. Averages are similar to Hoffa's.
I disagree that Simien isn't the kind of player we need, though. He is a good rebounder. Having a workhorse in the frontcourt can allow us to run Villanueva and Bonner with him in the second unit.

They might trade Dorrell Wright, he kinda rub Pat Riley the wrong way when he was sent down the D-League.
The other factor is their window to win is going to shrink every year, Shaq is not getting any younger and his game is slowly deteriotating they can't really stand pat they need to win now.

Re: Should We Trade Mike James To The Heat?
We did get the heat 2nd round via trade with Hornets
Possible Picks are
Dee Brown
Denham Brown
Taquan Dean
James White
Ivan Chiriaev(was considered a lottery/1st rounder couple of years ago)
Gerry Mcnamara
I like Denham Brown, he can do everything and has proven already he can play against NBA players he played well against Team USA couple years ago during the Olympic Qualifier

You'd kick her out of the bed as is? Were you holding out unless Brad Pitt joined in as well?

Re: Should We Trade Mike James To The Heat?
There are a couple of teams trying to snag a PG right now.
Miami, New York, Memphis.
Too bad nobody on their roster excites me.

Re: Should We Trade Mike James To The Heat?
I don't think we ought to turn down any PFs because we have Matt Boner - he's hardly a piece to build around (even as a sub.). Simien could be a good backup for now - he plays hard and is not soft like Bosh, CV3 and Bonner. We could use a physical forward for interior D - Bosh, Boner and CV3 look like they're wearing dresses most of the time.

That would give us five power forwards.
Chris Bosh
Charlie Villanueva
Matt Bonner
Wayne Simien
Pape Sow
Unless we are going to move Bonner to the 3 permanently we still would have four power forwards. Papes contract expires this year so I don't really know what our plans are with him but if we re-sign him I don't want him playing center and he sure as hell cant play small forward. If we don't choose to get Pape back for the 06-07 season then Wayne Simien and/or Villanueva will be buried in the bench because we cant hand out equal time to all three assuming we pick up a five in the off-season.
But meh, we can see what happens
