Re: Globe & Mail: McCloskey unhappy over Babcock's firing?
When Grunwald got fired you heard all the same BS about why doesn't Jack just take the job. He has such great 'experience'.
That would have been bad, and Embry will be bad.
Flavour of the month has changed at MLSE, that's all. They loved Jack and now they love Wayne. See these old guys as saviours for some reason. MLSE thinks that you just pick the right guy and everything works out quickly with no bumps along the way. They are clueless to all the good luck and patience you need to turn things around.
Jack doesn't need a job. The only reason he is sticking this out with MLSE is that he doesn't want to go out a loser and have a stain on his reputation. He is 100% correct to be frustrated with MLSE. They hire rooks but can't except rookie mistakes or growing pains. That's just dumb.
Jack Armstrong said last night that he knew from day 1 that Rob didn't have full support at MLSE. When they had Embry and Alex English on each side of him at the intro press conference that showed that MLSE was insecure about Rob and needed to prop him up with respected names to introduce him. Rob should have had his own press conference to introduce him as boss, and then a few days later HE should have held the press conference to introduce Wayne and Alex, without Peddie around.
I missed that at the time, but it was a brilliant pick up by Armstrong. Don't know how that got by me.
