Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
This is ***, Jose and graham are out but head, robinson and granger are in?
Granger barely did anything this season, he only started shining in the past few weeks/month. Head has been way more inconsistant and robinson hasn't been very spectacular besides one or 2 game winning buzzer shot.
I am not saying that all 3 rookies shoulda been on the team, but atleast jose and eva.
Jose is second behind Paul with the most assist in the rookies, and I think he is still leading in the assist to turn over ratio. I think he is among top 5 or 10 in the league for that actually. Also, he has been consistently in top 10 of nba.com rookie list. Too bad they are not the one deciding.
I still think Graham has done better than granger this season.
Anybody have stats that can confirm this?

Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
how about Sarunas Jasikevicius over Calderon???
Sarunas averages more points, while Calderon has more assists

Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
I was wondering when will the All-Star game ever going to be in Toronto?

Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
Sarunas is on a better team though, which I'm sure is one of the reasons why he was selected ahead of Calderon.
As for Luther Head, he's been terribly inconsistant and is only shooting around 37% from the field. However, let's not forget that All Star Weekend is taking place in Houston, so I guess they wanted him there to participate as well.
Another reason why Head made it over Calderon is because they probably didn't want four point guards on the team. They already have Paul, Deron and Sarunas there. (Granted Sarunas can play the 2, but he's primarily a PG)
Anyways, better luck to Calderon and Graham next year. Hopefully they can represent the sophs!

I think Toronto applied for it once, but they pulled themselves out. I think the team said they would bid for it for 2009? No idea.
I can't believe Calderon didn't make it =S

i think they're planning some major renovations to the ACC and with the addition of Maple Leaf Square should all be ready for 2010, i think that's when they're going to apply for the All-Star game...
that would be year 3 of the dy'nasty' and CB4 will be a perinial all star by then...TO will be B-Ball crazy again...

The NBA made a huge mistake not putting Calderon in the game. This type of no-defense exhibition fits Calderon's style perfectly. He'd be making one-handed and no-look passes left and right in this type of environment. You're not going to see Sarunas do any of that.

Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
It's just a meaningless game, I don't see why people are getting angry.
Head has been inconsistent, but he has made major contributions to an injury-riddled Rockets team. Granger has been clearly a great rookie, and I don't know why his selection is questioned at all. Sarunas, Deron Williams, and especially Nate Robinson are questionable picks over Calderon.

Terribly inconsistent, but he's been making big shots for us, and stood out when most of our guys were down. Impact wise, he's been much bigger than Jose has been to you guys.

In all fairness, Graham hasn't done much either.
Granger hasn't been getting the minutes Graham has, but when he has, he's produced - perhaps moreso than Graham ever has up to date. Hard to strip Granger of his right to the game, he deserves it as much as you think Graham does.
Calderon stiff to miss though. Shows how underrated a guy like that is though.

Re: Charlie Villanueva Makes The Rookie Team; Calderon and Graham Do Not
Marvin Williams has slightly more impressive numbers than either Joey Graham or Danny Granger. I think the reason Granger got the nod is because he's been thrusted into their starting line-up recently, and has excelled. And The Pacers have made the playoffs more recently than the other two's teams.

i don't have a problem with Joey not making it.
Jose not being in the game is a shame.
