Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Here's the article about this http://torontosun.com/Sports/Basketb...24406-sun.html
Bosh wants to sit down with Embry before the trade deadline to try and "encourage" him to keep James.

For anyone who did not hear.

He is not really demanding, but it certainly won't help negotiations.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Embry's legacy in Cleveland was leaving them with huge contracts for past their prime players, and no playoff appearances his last 5 years or so. Paxson had to clear out all that crap when he took over.
I swear that nobody in the press or at MLSE really looked at Embry's total record. They just hear how respected he is and think all his moves were gold.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
This is Mike James' career year. He'll never match it again, and the team that signs him long term is going to regret it.

He was giving an interview and the Mike James question came up.
|
This is the key point. There is an absolute world of difference between a star player making an announcement out of thin air that he thinks we should resign a teammate and answering a reporter's question honestly, basically saying 'yes, I think we should resign him, he's a good player'. Sure, he could have avoided the furor by saying something horrifically bland like 'Mike James is a good player but I have faith in our management team and I'm sure that they'll do the right thing for the franchise, whatever that may be', but then we'd be complaining that he always speaks in code, that he's too Tim Duncan-like. This is a tempest in a teapot.

i disagree...i know james looks for his shot first...but he plays the pick and roll with bosh like noone we've had, and does a decent job of getting him the ball in the post.
here's to hoping we can sign him to a 4 year/25 millian dollar deal...he's worth it.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Didn't his agent say something about 4 years at $21 million? I'd probably do that depending on the Ukic situation and whether or not Alvin Williams retires.

I'm just saying I trust Embry more than either GG or Babcock in handling these types of situations and he won't do something that would hurt the franchise in the future to please a player, no matter who that player is. I don't know if Embry's set on trading James or not but I have enough faith in Embry to do that right thing.

I was optimistic enough to hope that Embry and Bosh can come to an understanding to this Mike James issue. It wasn't too long ago that Embry said he talks with his players about trades first.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Give him James 4 years 18 mill
We don't know if Ukic will come and will turn out to be a Manu, we have needs at SG &SF, C in the draft.
Even with 4 picks again, hard to use one on a PG early, we know Alvin will be done that leaves, Calderon, maybe Ukic as the 2 PG's free agency pass, James is a great uptempo Gaurd he brings speed playmaker ability to PG that we have not had since Mighty Mouse.
James is worth what was reported on the fan 5 yr 20 mill, before his value goes up more try to tie him at 4 years 15-18 mill.

you don't get anyone for 4 years, 15 million...let alone a starting point guard.
i think 4 years 25 million is what we're looking at...minimum.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Sign him to 4-20/25. These are not the type of players that bust your cap, unless you make 3 or 4 signings in that level.
Cap killers are Jalen Rose.

I'm saying that no matter how Bosh feels about James, whether he genuinely wants him back next year or not, he wouldn't tell that to the media for fear of risking team chemistry etc.
