Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
He said it on the Fan590. He said something along the lines of " If Mike sticks around, it would show stability within the organization."
Well I guess this puts us in a limbo doesn't it? Sign Mike James to a long-term contract and watch as he spends the last few years of his contract sitting on the bench or trade/let go Mike James and risk making Bosh unhappy. Another thing: This is going to be bad for negotiations, Mike might use Bosh's comment against us.

Bosh does not get a say. We've gone down this road. I like you Chris, but this is not your dept.

Sorry Chris, but please STFU. Last time we had a star player leaning on management it sent us straight to cap hell.
Mike James' agent must be drooling.

I'd like to see Mike James stick around too. He and Bosh drive each other to play better. I gues it depends on how much money James wants or whether he's going to pick money over stability. I remember he said something once about how he's always been travelling around the league and would like stability.

Why CB4?... Why?
Of course what you're saying is true but it's not your place to be making it public.
This could be bad news for the Raps
STFU Bosh - I hoped you were smarter than this.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Who cares if Bosh is making it public? He wants Mike James to stay, I personally wouldn't mind it.
Mike James is averaging over 17 points per as well as over 5 assists per. His numbers recently have been awesome. Aquiring a solid center, two good draft picks, and possibly a small forward and/or a shooting guard in free agency or a trade would give us a legitimate playoff contender team.
I really don't see what the big deal is. James is a good player and I'd like to see him stay too.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Ouch.
Just heard the MJ interview after practice today. Reporters asked him how he would base his decision, if he felt he owed the Raps anything, etc.
His answer was essentially show me the money. Talked about love and respect and appreciation for what he does on the court, and said all that is measured in $$$. Made it very clear that the team that stepped up with the best offer would be his team.
Said he was a chameleon that could play anywhere, in any system. Said he shouldn't be paid or judged according to where he was drafted or the fact that other teams couldn't see what they had. He can't make the Raps 'smell what they have right under their nose'.
Said that the Raps didn't know what they were getting in the trade and that he has delivered more than they thought. He appreciates the opportunity to showcase himself, but now its about showing appreciation for what he brings. $$$$$
CB's comments are going to cost the Raps big bucks.
Personally I hope MJ rapes Peddie and Embry for a 5yr/30mill deal. Put the screws to them MJ!!! You got the leverage now. One thing we know is that the Raps will kiss some serious butt to keep their star player (Bosh) happy and get him re-signed.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
Okay, I know my inital post was alittle on the negative side but I think you guys might be over-reacting. In Bosh's defense, it's not like he just went on air and said "Okay, I want Mike James back on this team or I'm demand a trade." He was giving an interview and the Mike James question came up. It might be that he was thinking about the image of the organization -and the fact that it's in complete disarray right now- and trying to find a way to showcase some stability.
Even if Bosh has a good relationship with Mike James, he's a smart guy. If, come off-season, a team gives MJ a long-term contract that the Raps can't possibly match t. Bosh, in all likelyhood, wouldn't sit there and pout. He'd probably even enjoy a chuckle or two when he sees the ludacris numbers on James' contract on TSN.
We can't bl/fl-ame a guy for every mistake that he makes, especially if they are few and far between.

I'm rooting for the Raptors to get better I think you should resign Mike James to whatever he wants it's not like there's any pg's in the league if you sign him then you have he and Calderon at the point then you give Chris Bosh whatever he wants

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
CB much like vince is gonna put the gun to our head, and in not so many words tell the team what they should be doing or else he is going to leave, and he knows he can do it cause toronto is a desperate franchise with little respect around the league.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
didn't hear the interview myself, but it totally depends on how it came out. i'm sure whoever posed the question might've been looking for it, digging for it, and chris might've just said what we all would've said in the same situation. of course, it could've been different- he might've gone out of his way to make his opinion well-known for the selfish reasons outlined above. then you start feeling the vc effect.
really, imo, players like that have very short memories. very short. mike james was just 1b to chris' 1a against washington, so does it really surprise anyone that chris wants him back today? hell, if my first goal was to win games (as it should be) i'd probably want the same thing. in fact, i know i would.
for anyone to see chris in the same light as vc, though, is disrespectful (imo). you really think those guys are similar? no, you don't. none of us do. it's just inherent fear making its way through our keyboards. hopefully we pass that stage soon.
but if chris starts wining and dining the mlse brass in hopes of re-signing mike... and jalen... and mop... to long-term deals, i'll probably reconsider my opinion...
while i still think the most important point is being lost here: given the way things are looking and the way i understand our re-building plan, i think we should absolutely re-sign mike james. the guy's obviously a quality player and person who wants to stay, he's entering free agency in a year when only a handful of teams have the space to sign him, he's young enough and already built a strong bond with our franchise cornerstone, and for fans, he's hella fun to watch (imo). i mean, why not? i really see no reason to let him walk for any reasonable amount of $$$.
he's almost been an all-star (imo) to this point in the season; and i wouldn't be at all surprised to see him reach that level at some point in the coming years.
peace

Yep, that was basically his same attitude in Houston. And as selfish as it sounds, what do you want him to say? That he'd be willing to take less money to play in Toronto of all places?? He wants a big contract, and he'll get a big contract.
And don't be hatin' on Bosh for speaking his mind. He's the star player, and if management can't make him happy then maybe he is better off elsewhere. Not saying Mj needs to be re-signed, but management needs to step up and show Bosh they're willing to commit if Bosh is truly in their long term picture.

lol. Mike James is more of a SG if you get what I mean. Other than that, I'd love to see him back with the Raps next year, just as long as it doesn't cost the team too much.
IMO, I don't think Chris Bosh would pull a Carter and whine his way through to the MLSE execs if the team really didnt want to resign James (for some odd reason) or don't have the money to. I mean, yes, Chris probably does want MJ to stay in Toronto, but let's say, for some unknown reason, that Chris doesn't want James to stay in Toronto. I think Bosh is enough of a professional to NOT tell that to the media. It's not like he would say, "No. I'd rather see Mike James shipped off to the Knicks." or something along those lines. Chris is a real pro. ANd I agree with Ballocks, seeing Bosh in the same light as VC in terms of attitude and management-issues is disrespectful.

Re: Bosh would like to see Mike James stick around.
I would be as disappointed or PO'ed as my predecessors if GG was still running the team, or to a small extent, Rob Babcock. Wayne Embry is running the show and I have enough faith in his experience to handle these type of situations. In fact, scratch Rob Babcock's name off there since Embry would still be here, watching and advising behind the scenes at how Rob handles the Mike James situation if Rob were still around.
And let's not forget that Vince and Bosh are worlds apart where their personalities are concerned.
