Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
Quote:
Misconception about Magloire
The prevailing feeling is Bucks' center Jamaal Magloire wants to be traded to Toronto, where he grew up. But that's not the case, Magloire insists. Rather, he would like to remain with the Bucks.
"I like Larry, I like the Senator and I like the organization,'' Magloire said, referring to Bucks owner Herb Kohl and Bucks general manager Larry Harris. "That might have been true a couple years ago, but not anymore.''
Magloire, who has played well in the playoffs against Detroit and outrebounded Pistons center Ben Wallace 12-4 in Game 4 Monday night, will be in the final year of his contract next season.

Not exactly a surprise. Mags is a good politician. He wants cash, not home. MIL can pay him the most. But will they? 5% chance.

Contrasting article by Marty York today, claiming that Superfan has been acting as a mouthpiece for Magloire, who wants to come to Toronto badly.

OOH, OOOH, Can I play second fiddle to the Aussie? Can I? Can I?
Go home and be a starter? No thanks, not for me, Milwaukee is HONKY-dorey, with a capital HONKEY.
Either way, Sam is pushing hard for Przy as we speak. Which could have the extra benefit of a new lover for Sam and less minutes for Matt.

Re: Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
What exactly could Mags say in the middle of a playoff fight with DET? He isn't a Sam Cassel type who says he would be happy playing for the other team next year while you are trying to beat them. If Mags said anything like that he would be killing his market value and make MIL less likely to help him out.
Mags wants to be here, but he wants his cash most of all. He may get both this summer if BCol doesn't have to give up anything core to get him. Let MIL pick from our 5 pick, Hoff, Sow, Bonner, EWill. Maybe Graham, but not with the 5 pick. Otherwise we just try to outbid for Pryz/Nazr/Nene and keep our pick and expiring salaries.

I was reading that York article today... that was hilarious. Using Superfan as a source - Superfan is a good friend of JM, and will try to talk to BC.

Re: Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
I hope Magloire comes to Toronto, but I could see how he would snub T.O for more money. Mediocre centers are getting ungodly amounts of money and I doubt he will take a paycut to come here.
I think it might be a subtle message that he wants to get paid if he has to leave Milwaukee for all the other teams interested, before contract negotiations next year.

I for one hope Magloire doesn't show up in toronto. Lets not forget that he claims to be seeking a max contract extension. If he can be had for the right price I suppose, but too many people seem willing to overpay for him because of his citizenship and willingness to play in toronto.

Re: Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
I don't see how Magloire would fit into this situation. He just plays a different style of basketball than what the Raptors are playing. I see him more of a half-court hard-nosed defender and slow to react on offence – maybe the exact reason that he is not getting any major playing time in Milwaukee.
I don't know why people keep coming back to the Magloire scenario when the Raptors are looking ahead to a future with better players than Magloire.

Re: Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
Magloire is a mercenary, plain and simple. And talk of him "coming home" is just that - talk. And it's probably designed to get him more money on a championship-calibre team. Can we please stop this pipe dream?
Objectively speaking, there is no difference between him and Pryzbilla, other than the latter being younger and hence around for a longer time.

If we truly have championship aspirations, that is exactly what we need. Playoffs are usually decided in the half court
While I am getting kinda sick of this never-ending story, I have yet to see a better center prospect that the Raptors can aquire with abilities of Magloire.
With Dalambert, Chandler, Curry, Dampier and even Foyle getting crazy paid, I have no doubt in my mind what Magloire will be looking for, and if it costs 10 million a year to get him here I have no problem with it, cause he'll get that anywhere he goes.

Re: Magloire likes MIL, not pining for a trade to TOR.
Playoffs are over, Magloire has done somewhat of an about-face:
Quote:
Center Jamaal Magloire put on his purple Milwaukee Bucks jersey for what might be the last time before Game 5 against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.
Magloire admitted some frustration regarding his role during the Eastern Conference playoffs and said he wanted to evaluate his status with Bucks general manager Larry Harris and coach Terry Stotts during the off-season.
|
Quote:
"My biggest disappointment is I wish I was out there contributing and helping this team win," said Magloire, who had eight points and four rebounds in 23 minutes on Wednesday. "Coach is going to make the decisions, and I'm just going to do what he asks of me.
"I have a year left on the deal, and I'm going to re-evaluate the situation. I'm going to have a good chance to speak with the general manager and the coach and go from there."
|
Quote:
In the past, Magloire has expressed an interest in playing for his hometown team, the Toronto Raptors, and he still lives there during the off-season and is involved in the community.
But it is not certain the Raptors would have a strong desire to trade for him.
"I'm going to be real diplomatic in saying I'm under contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, and the senator (Bucks owner Herb Kohl) and the general manager have treated me really good," Magloire said.

Mags Article
In another article, Mr. Bogut doesn't seem to happy and says that changes need to be made:
Quote:
"It's disappointing, but I think there have to be some dramatic changes made next season," said Bogut, the No. 1 pick in the 2005 National Basketball Association draft. "It's all I can hope for, that there will be some changes and we'll see what happens.
"There are logjams at certain spots. Certain guys aren't playing that probably could play more. It's very tough, because we have a lot of great players coming off the bench.
|
Quote:
|
"We just need to clean some things up. The core is obviously three or four guys, but we need to clean up those other role players. I wish I had played a more important role this year, but it didn't work out like that. Hopefully that's what is going to happen next year. I'll be unhappy if it doesn't.
|
Quote:
"It's tough coming in here and having high expectations. I don't think I played well all year. I don't think I played basketball like I could, and my confidence went downhill. You just run up and down the court, rebounding and setting screens. That's just the way it was, and I had to deal with it.
"I think I handled it professionally, so we'll see if there are some changes made. I think I can help this team much more, but that's not up to me."
|
Bogut article
So their lottery pick is unhappy with a logjam at certain positions (I'm guessing that centre is the position to which he is referring) and says that changes need to be made or he'll be unhappy. Magloire, the tutor, is unhappy that he's not playing a key role on the team. Which player do you think will be kept around? My guess would be the young 21 year old centre who the franchise used their 1st overall pick to draft. Bogut wants more minutes, he'll get more minutes.
