Bryan said he would do his best to bring him over this summer. Roko is unhappy with his role with Tau and our franchise is unhappy with his development there as a result. Bryan tried to bring Roko over towards the end of this past season but didn't have the funds (remainder of the MLE) to negotiate a buy-out for the needed amount.

I heard a audio clip from Brian Colangelo that he tried to bring him over near the end of last season. Made a comment that they couldn't get a buyout worked out at that time. Based on that I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue to try an bring him over this coming season.

If he isnt happy there and he isnt developing, why dont the raptors just cough up the dough?

^ not sure about the exact provisions, but the Raptors are only allowed to contribute a certain amount to the buyout, then after that the player has to pay the rest

considering that Roko just signed the deal with Tau last year, he would have a lot to pay back to Tau to be able to play for the Raps.

I think he wants to play here and we obviously want him here, but I would guess that financially it won't be possible till at least next year, JMO.

I really hope that was before toronto drafted him. The player has to pay half? This sounds like the NCAA or something. Im sure the raptors could "make it happen".

Roko signed with Tau after he was drafted by the Raptors around the time we signed Jose. Something tells me Tau bought him out from his former club KK Split. Not sure on the details though or the amount of the buyout.

well the buyout isnt much of an issue. the raps can pay 350k of the 1.5 mil, and then give roko a 1.5 mil/ year contract with incentives. also roko would easily be able to secure a loan from a bank/agent/ other organizations who give atheletes money to cover expenses that they know they will get a return from.

well the way its sounding now, it looks like james isnt going to be resign, so i think there very good chance ukic is coming over (although i think theres some real good options early 2nd to pick up a nice lil pg...i like dockery, brown, washington, and if for some reason if gibson is still there, even thou. i hated the way he played at texas, i still take him in a heartbeat...just too talented,,his game will translate better in the nba)

ukic is interesting because the way he plays on offense is exactly what we need...the raps offense is so stagnant (either bosh driving, james driving or, jump shot, jump shot, jump shot by everyone else including those 2) we desperately need a slasher who is willing to give it up and install some creativity into our offensive game...
