I want Thomas!! I said so 2 days ago, but no one else seems as into him as they are with Barg.
So what if he only scores 12 a game, last time I checked this team didn't need help putting the ball in the hoop. His ability to become defensive leader on the floor is the reason to draft him. Put him out with Bosh and CV and we have someone to do the dirty work, block shots, and rebound, plus he's uber atheletic and will score on the break. Think 6 foot 9 with a 40 INCH VERTICAL!!!! His leadership ability is IMO second only to Morrison at the top of this draft.

for me, this is the point. it appears we have some people who don't want us to take a proven scorer/offensive juggernaut, saying we need a "banger". then when a "banger" is proposed, he doesn't satisfy because he's not a scorer. so what do we want? do we just want to get paranoid? i think, collectively, we need to relax just a bit. this half-empty outlook is hard to believe this week.
in terms of thomas, i've never been his biggest fan but i wouldn't be against taking him. he seems to have a load of healthy energy, while he also seems to be a good student. put differently, if you criticize him, he won't go into a shell, neither will he argue with you. he'll use what you're saying to make himself better. i think another player like that on this roster (with our coaching staff and team leaders) would fit very well.
but i mean, every decision we make from this point forward depends on... all the other decisions we're going to make. i don't know what direction colangelo wants to take this team, there are so many ways to get there, so many options. until we know some more, i expect us to be driven crazy by all the possibilities. players like tyrus thomas make sense if we're doing it like this- don't make so much sense if we're doing it like that (imo).
peace

having too many big talented guys is a problem that many teams would love to have
TT could end up being the BPA, but he will have to prove that he is more than just an amazing athlete to go #1, if teams deem his upside to be the highest, he could easily go #1, but it is yet to be seen.
even with all the Bargnani speculation, I still think Dridge is the pick here if we retain the #1

Doesn't matter. The Bulls want someone tough to go beside wimpy Chandler. And Paxson is in love with Thomas.

Since when do the raptors need a 4 that can score. They have bosh. What they need is toughness and interior D.
Thomas will get enough garbage points to outscore Aldridge imo.

He's a slightly taller and thicker Hakim Warrick. I don't know if he is a banger at 220ish.
Bangers are further down the draft.

I don't think Tyrus Thomas is so much of a banger as he is a grit player. butr is right, at 220 it would be tough to push people around, but it doesn't mean you can't out hustle and out work people (which in my mind defines grit).

My thoughts exactly, slightly richer mans Hakim Warrick. If he went back to school for 2 years I think he would be a mid-teens pick since scouts could pick apart the deficiencies in his game.

Re: Why is nobody talking about Tyrus Thomas? And in a nutshell, how to fix this wreck.
TT, CV AND Bosh on the floor at the same time?
Good god, who will guard the 5? Certainly not TT. He's 6'9" and his name is not Ben Wallace.
I want Bosh to keep his energy on the other end of the floor and score my buckets, not waste energy fighting for position with the other team's 5. CV is even worst than Bosh at guarding the 5.
Just say no to TT on the raps.

TT, Cv and Bosh is far more realistic than Bargani, CV and Bosh. If any player could be the next ben wallace its tyrus thomas. Hes supposed to be able to add 20 lbs of muscle without it hurting his mobility that much. I honestly think that TT would develop into a better interior defender than aldridge.
I can see your reservations about TT, but please tell me you arent one of these people that thinks bargani would be a better situation.

Thats where I'm at too. If we're going with a 3 PF lineup, Id rather throw TT out there than Bargnani. And I think those two will be the best of the top 5 when alls said and done.
Heres the best Video Of TT I could find . . .
big time dunk
