Re: If you were BC.. you would...
I'd do this if I could:
Quote:
Toronto Gets: Igoudala, Pachulia, 13th pick
Atlanta Gets: Iverson, Dalembert, Pape Sow
Philadelphia Gets: 1st pick (Aldridge), 5th pick (Marcus Williams), Harrington, MoPete, Childress
Toronto Post Trade
Calderon, Ukic,
Iggy, Graham
Villanueva, Graham
Bosh, 13th pick(Simmons),
Pachulia, 13th pick(Simmons)
Toronto moves out of the top 10 but picks up a stud swingman. Pachulia gives them a solid big man to do the banging that everyone is calling for. Losing MoPete is hard on the team because of all the intangibles he brings but adding Iggy and Pachulia as well as the 13th pick (Simmons) makes up for it.
Atlanta Post Trade:
Iverson, Lue
Johnson, Stoudamire
Smith, Donta Smith
Williams, Sow, Batista
Dalembert, Batista, Sow
Atlanta gets a superstar to bring some credibility and fans back to the franchise. They also add one of the most athletic young centres who should fit in well with an uptempo offense. In a way, they really only give up the 5th pick, Childress and Pachulia to get these pieces as Harrington is a FA and could walk for nothing.
Philly Post Trade
Marcus Williams (5th pick), Salmons, Louis Williams
Mo Pete, Childress
Harrington, Korver
Webber, Randolph
Aldridge(1st pick), Hunter
Philly blows up and starts a new era. They get the best PG and Centre, the two hardest positions to fill, in the draft. They also get Harrington, Childress and Mo Pete to form one of the better wing rotations. They get out from under Iverson and Daly's heavy contracts and will have loads of capspace in 2008 offseason when Webber and McKie's contracts come off.
All teams come out of this deal in good shape, some immediately and some in terms of future.

Re: If you were BC.. you would...
honestly, the more i think about it, the more i begin to realize that i wouldn't know how to attack this summer- whether it's the draft, free agency, trades, whatever. i wouldn't know where to start. part of me would set a deadline for trade offers re: the #1, but that would be foolish. most teams make those decisions at the last minute, and setting some deadline would be silly.
what that tells me is that i'd have to go into the draft still not knowing how i want to play the game. i guess i could spend the next 30 days evaluating every possible outcome pre-draft, and having the strategy all mapped out for me once i (accidentally) fall on the action plan tied to the pick, but that's fiction. who'd spend that much time being careful?
so if i were bc, i guess i wouldn't do anything right now. i'd be staring into space, counting the scratches on my wall. i wouldn't know how to be 'proactive' this year. but hopefully he's more savvy than i am.
peace
