Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
what's the knock on Kris anyways? it's not as if Araujo was gonna do us any good sitting on the bench with 5 fouls in 4 minutes. might as well take a chance on a 'potential sleeper', which is why colangelo traded for Kris. he knew that araujo was no good to us, so he tried to see if we could benefit from a lost cause. even if kris doesn't put on a raptors uni, we didn't lose anything from this trade. it was a solid trade and i'm very surprised araujo even warranted TWO YOUNG PLAYERS.

I don't want Whaley here and he probably won't be but Humphries can easily out achieve Hoffa is he can simply make a lay-up.
Hoffa was a nice guy, but niceness doesn't win you games.

If by Diaw type you mean a player that will show a large amount of improvement than no he is not....if you mean his ability to play multiple positions ....than no he is not!

I don't mean mulitpole positions, because its obvious Kris doesn't have the passing skills nor the dribble skills. Kris was suppose to be a really solid player, reading some of the draft notes. And I bet you were saying that about Diaw too. I'm not saying Kris is gonna be really good, Im just asking if people think thats what Bryan is wanting Kris to be.

Sure. I think BC is obviously looking to score a possible breakout player that fits our/his gameplan with Humphries. Humphries is young and talented and he's entering an extension year.
Charlie V is our Boris Diaw of course. Probably the best comparison for Charlie these days, though I think he's got the better frame. Of course we'll have to see how Vill develops as a playmaker with all these changes being made to the team.

You think Eva can fill the 5 as effectively as Diaw?

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
Why are people wanting kris to play the 5? Its not like it was a bad trade. The guy can be a good bench player with some time at the 4 and 5. Did you guys expect a starter in return for Hoffa? I mean, it would be great if he was capable of starting at the 5, but its still a great trade either way.

If not moreso, given the right system. He's more of a post player, a better shotblocker, etc. But the comparison is based on him being a point forward, not a center.

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
I think Charlie has more potenial to play in the middle then Diaw ever will if the team commits to develop him there. He has a 9'1 standing reach which is adequate for most NBA centers (around Bogut's) and a good frame for adding weight. With his mobility he'll make up for his bulk because of his ability to recover for loose rebounds. However he'll definatly have to work on his rebounding technique because right now his fundamentals are terrible. He'll need about 15-20 pounds of bulk as well and he'd be fine. His post game is money right now and would be more then able to play the point center role that BC was talkind about as he is a slick passer.
But like I said the team and Charlie would have to commit to what position for him to develop into. He's have to work on much different things in order to develop into a three like he is now or a five potenialy.

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
Humphries is a BC type acquisition. They don't all work out, but Kris is an outstanding athlete stuck in a terrible system for him.
He can run and jump and is strong and tough. He has a low basketball IQ right now, but he is only 21 and already has about 130 NBA games under his belt. This kid has a lot of upside, and the cost was very low.
Stop talking about whether people can play the 5. The 5 is an irrelevant concept in Toronto now. What Humphries can do, is hold his ground against opposing fives. And rebound, run the floor on fast breaks.
He is not long for a 6-9 guy, but he doesn't have T-rex arms either, and he has a 36" vertical; he did 22 reps at 185 at the combine, and ran the agility drill in 11.33, just 0.05 sec behind Ben Gorden and faster than Luol Deng and Josh Childress.
He has a nice midrange jumper and can power it to the hoop. He needs to learn to pass the ball.
The biggest thing - he is younger than some to the prospects in the upcoming draft. You simply have to love that.

BUT this past season the play of Elton Brand and Ike Diogu has revived the notion in my mind that there could be a role in the league for non-traditional body types.

Just to let you know:
The reason Elton and Ike have had success even though they are 'undersized' is because they have long arms which basically makes up for the fact that they are 1-2 inches too short. The other 4 you named aren't freaks like Elton is.
