Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
At first I thought this was a pretty good deal...but upon further review I am not to sure what I think. Kris is listed at 6'9" and 235.....not the body of the "banger" we are all looking for him to be. I also thought that he may be able to play the five spot, but I think Sow would do a better job....that is not saying much for Humphries. His free throw shooting has be Shaq like and his field goal% is horrible for a power forward....playing time or not.
I know he had great numbers in his year in the NCAA, but Hoffa had great numbers in college as well.
So my questions are:
Will he be any more useful than Hoffa?
Will he be any more efective than Sow and Bonner?
Will he be filler iin another trade?

He is a bit of a tweener - and I had totally written off tweeners since Charles Barkley (having seen a ton of them not stick)
Corliss williamson
Lonny Baxter
Robert Traylor
Marcus Fizer
BUT this past season the play of Elton Brand and Ike Diogu has revived the notion in my mind that there could be a role in the league for non-traditional body types.

EB showed us what he can do right from his rookie year, Ike has also shown more in his first year than Humphries has. The more I think about it the more I don't see any role for this kid!

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
He's only 21, he was a fresman drafted out of college just two seasons ago. Like most rookies he was in Jerry Sloan's doghouse and playing behind such a talented froncourt he didn't get much time to prove anything. He's talented no question, unlike Hoffa this kid has the talent and skill to cut it in this leauge, the onyl thing is will he be able to put it together? Realy from his skill-set, strength and tougness I wouldn't rule out a Kurt Thomas outcome for this guy. But realistically will he add anything? Certianly more then Hoffa, Deftinatly not any less.

We haven't save cash ... With Whaley the trade is pretty even ... even if we waive him, we will have to pay him.
Plus we gave cash to Utah.

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
i think he'll be our centre barring another move/signing.
he's about the same size as charlie. not much but somewhat better d. he seems a lot stronger than he looks and measures. hes another guy that can play the 3,4,5.

This is what I am not seeing....how can he play the 5 spot at 6'9" 235......that is not as long as Charlie or Bosh.....and Although he looks big in the upper body, what is his core like....I am thinking it might be light.....no lower body girth to help in the post.

Run and Gun?
Bell is like 6'8", don't know how heavy though, I'm guessing around 230-240 too?

AD & Big ben are all 6"9 but AD has massive arms 245 LBS Ben 6"9 240.
Is Humphries good at arunning the court?
Lets say he puts on 10 LBS and enters the season at 245 could be possibly be used lke Boris Diaw?
Is that what BC had in mind when he made this trade?
lots of qestions that should be answered draft night.

Diaw guards the 5, but he also works with his hands on the ball a fair amount of the time.....You will not find a player like Diaw.....AD was out of position at the 5 and Ben Wallace is a player all to his own.....I just don't see Kris as a long or short term solution at the center position on this or any team. I am not saying that we can't go with an undersized center, I am saying I do not see this guy being it.
How is he an upgrade over Pape Sow....Sow is comfortable with the players and has as good if not better size than Humphries?

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
humphries' skills are MUCH more advanced than sow's. they're very different players.
i do believe he'll be able to play the pivot for us. he will NOT be a boris diaw. nevermind the guard skills. kh is a guy that rarely passes the ball. that's a concern. but if he doesn't change his stripes and lowers his me-firstness, he'll be out of the league before he knows it.
the kid is strong. he's not hoffa strong, but tougher than anyone else we have (not counting whaley). he's pretty athletic and can run the floor. a charlie/bosh humphries vs a charlie/bosh/sow front gives a group that can each score in a variety of ways. and the less coverage given to each, the more opportunities arise; that's the direction i see our frontcourt going and why i like bargnani for us.
don't expect him to come here and explode like diaw did in pheonix. humphries has nowhere near the ball iq. but he should be able to contribue. and i think he'll be tradeable for the duration of his contract unless he proves himself a psycho

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
He's athletic. In a less structured offense than Utah, he will improve. He will be a decent bench player. And be better than Hoffa.
But make no mistake, this is one reclamation project for another. But BC has had really good success finding diamonds in the rough and putting them into positions to succeed.

Re: Kris Humphries.....will he do anything for us?
Humphries can be a 20/10 player if given a chance.
