Why not butr? If we can get O'Neal for #1 and filler like Eric and Alvin, that's essentially like adding an All-Star for no loss on the current roster. Isn't this what cap room is for?
No chance they do it for just #1. It would have to be a package deal. Mo, #1 CV etc. No thanks.

We traded VC for much less. If Bird decides the team isn't going beyond the 1st round for the foreseeable future he might decide to switch to rebuilding mode. Jermaine, while an all-star, also has a huge contract. His plan might be dump salary, hit the lotto in 2007 and 2008 (both looking like excellent draft classes), and rebuild on cheap. Honestly, I could see #1 + Alvin + Eric being enough in this scenario.
I'm with BUTR on this one.
No thanks.
First of all, JO is an injury prone player.
Too many posters said "We will be deadly IF he stays healthy..."
This IF is the problem here.
And also, we are building around Bosh, and when you get a guy like JO to play for you, he will probably want plenty of touches. Bosh will become second option.
If that happened Bosh would rather leave the franchise and ask for a trade or wouldn't sign up.
Even IF JO is a success, when he fades there will be no one to replace him, unless CV becomes an All-Star.

Rumours like this make me really appreciate having Colangelo as a GM. He's playing this draft with the mastery most internet posters play with their balls.
This rumour seems to part of the grand smoke screen. Now Charlotte and Portland are starting to think that Indiana is going to sweep in and pick up the #1 and with it, Adam Morrison. And a name like Jermaine O'Neal being included in talks does nothing but drive up the price, or rationalize what BC has asked for before.
One of the best ways to get something you want is to simply say 'Well if you won't give it to me, I've got someone else who will'. The more interested partners there are for this pick, especially well publicized partners, the better return we'll get for the pick. As of now, I'm convinced that the Raptors won't be sitting at #1 on draft day. But hell who knows with Colangelo at the helm, that rat ******* has everyone on their toes.
The talk is the Pacers would throw in their No. 17 pick, which would give the Raptors a shot at a point guard and a team ready to compete next season with the Pacers getting back forward Charlie Villanueva, whom Colangelo is said to be willing to deal.
the article mentions colangelo "said" he's willing to trade villanueva..when did he actually say that?

He should be "willing" to deal him. CV probably has the most inflated value of anyone on the team. I don't mean he's overrated, but for what he has done, his value is well above that actual performance level due to his "potential".
