I just don't understand
I just can't believe that some of you guys have bought into the Bargs hype. I mean whats up with that, you guys are talking this guy up as the next NBA saviour. If this was the case why is there no clear cut #1 guy.
Also I find it quite funny how you guys criticize American players like Gay,Aldridge, Morrison, and Thomas but never really have anything negative to say about a guy that is only averages 11 pts a game. You guys have no idea if this guy plays defense, has heart, strong will to win or any of that. Of course, you guys just see a couple minutes of edited game tape and he has to be the Raptors pick.
Some of you guys are very naive, and really don't follow scouting basketball players that well if all it takes is a piece of video to convince you guys to send your franchise into limbo. With saying all that I really hope the Raptors choose Bargs and he becomes one of the greatest bust in NBA history. Also, why does eveyone keep saying that the back to the basket center is a rare breed and the game is changing, if that is the case why is Greg Oden the clear cut #1 pick in 2007.

Oh, and how much of Greg Oden have you seen or are you simply 'buying into the hype'?

Re: I just don't understand
yeah clearly no one has stated he'd be the raptors saviour.. OTHERWISE... if someone/all of the raps board posters believed that.. we wouldn't have about a million threads debating on who we should take
and as much as all the american prospects are being criticized, Bargnani i think has been just as much if not more...

Re: I just don't understand
first off very rarely is there a clear cut #1, tim duncan, yao, lebron... then you had the debate between dwight howard and okafor, curry and chadler, bogut and marvin williams. i think there is debate this year, most mocks i have seen recently have morrison #1. so i dont see the big hype, save the league thing going on here. from all the footage i've seen he looks like the best out there to me but it wouldnt surprise me if they go in a differant direction. he wont last long though, there isnt going to be some big drop where people are amazed he is still on the board, i doubt he gets past #2.

Re: I just don't understand
I'm pretty sure every Raptors fan on this forum would tell you there are no saviors in this year's draft and a great many of them believe that is why we have the first pick (even if it is I don't mind).
Ok, I'm sorry LA is the savior of the Raps, no AMMO is. Does any of those sound any better?

I think it all fits in with the Colangelo signing.
-Colangelo has reportedly been enamoured with Bargnani for years
-Stern sees the Raptors franchise isn't looking so hot, wants basketball to be more successful north of the border.
-Stern puts the Raptors in contact with a 'headhunting' firm which nets them Colangelo, who was still under contract with the Suns
-Colangelo accepts the deal with the Raptors as long as Stern and his henchmen agree to ensure BC gets his man.
I don't really think it's a conspiracy, just a fortunate string of events for the Raptors organization.

For future reference you won't make as many enemies if you post this in one of the half dozen other Bargs threads.
But what are your specific concerns about his game? Your arguement is all generalities.
I specifically support the pick based on his increasing roll in the euro league chamiponship, probably the second most competitive league in the world.
His recent measurments are also a significant factor when comparing him to the other top picks.
I don't think anyone is saying this kid is the second comming, but the support you see for him is just a general feeling that he is pulling away from the pack. If you need clarification read all of our points in the other threads...where this post should be
