Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
- Tyrus Thomas has supposedly cancelled a workout for the Blazers. A possible top-3 guarantee? Maybe that means a trade with us and Charlotte could still yield the player we want (Mago).
- Phoenix supposedly wants to move up. One rumour states that the Suns don't want to pay luxery tax and wouldn't be opposed to trading Marion for Chandler and #2. They have reportedly been looking at Bargnani for some time, and continue to do so without Colangelo.
So one rumour has us getting Bargnani at three if needs be, the other has us forced to pick first.
Expect more rumours as the draft draws closer.

Phoenix would be pretty stupid to trade Marion, imo.

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
Ty Thomas with a possible top 3 guarantee?
who could use him?
at barely 6'8, no way should Chicago pick him. not another tweener!
Charlotte? they have May, Okafor, Brezec and Wallace to man the 3 4 and 5, so i don't see him fitting in ANYWHERE there (plus they love Ammo).
In Toronto - where are you gonna play him? at least Gay could learn to play the 2 effectively,as could morrisson - no idea where Bargnani'd play (seeing as Bosh shouldnt play Center in any case).
And that Marion trade makes little sense - where would HE play? and then the bulls lose all that lovely caproom they have saved so dilligently..
plus they have Noci and Deng at the 3, and they don't want another undersized 4 (especially one with no low post offence)

They don't want to pay the luxury tax, so they trade Marion for Chandler's massive, overpaid contract? Smart. Great analysis draft express...

Trade with CHA,
Get rid of Alvin
Trade with Suns, get Marion and one of their picks. They get TT or AB.
We would still have caproom in this scenario.
Very plausible. Cuban would not do it, but Sarver IS concerned with the bottom line.

LOL, I was about to say. Absolutely ludicrous, so many "rumors" and "the word going around" stories on that site are bogus.

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
well looks like a no brainer that tyrus thomas is going to chicago...fits with their need for an athletic four and into skiles defensive oriented system...coupled that with all the talk that weve been hearing that hes has a promise to chicago for wks now and that both his college coach and trainer both publicly said they would be shocked if he didnt go to chicago, i cant see this guy not going there anymore...good news for the raps imo, because might give us a better opportunity to move down to 3 and still get our guy (i doubt thomas is in the mix), whoever he might be...

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
If the Suns want to dump Marion's salary, then let's offer them CV and no pick. They get a solid young prospect and save $40 million over the next three years. We get a stud in his prime to play beside Bosh.

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
Is it possible that TT pulled out of the workout because of the flu that caused him to leave the chicago workout early?
Edit: A little research, and TT has worked out since that Chi incident. Apparantly he worked out with Cha yesterday. Bobcats trading up to get TT away from the bulls?

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
Shawn Marion isn't on the trading block, I'm not a GM, but I feel confident in saying that. He's a top 10 player in the NBA with a fair value contract, even if it is big.

Someone's got to go. Sarver is not having a 70 million payroll and they essentially have 3 max players in Nash, Matrix and Amare. With Diaw and Barbosa and even possibly TT due for raises. Somethings got to give.

Re: Two rumours: Tyrus Thomas and the Phoenix Suns
lol yeah, I highly doubt we trade Matrix for a deal involving Chandler to help our situation out.
D'Antoni has openly laughed at the notion asking, why would we trade Marion while Amare is still a question mark coming off a knee injury? He said it makes no sense to him. Our cap is fine this yr. I would worry more about next yr. Sarver's also said, he's not saying he won't ever pay a luxary tax either, he just thinks it's hard for the Phoenix market to do it consistently or some cheap *** excuse. Oh, well, we'll see. D'Antoni is our GM as well, I'm sure he'd fight him about it. He loves the Matrix.
Tim Thomas will not be back this yr, unless it's for practially peanuts which is even a stretch.. Diaw will probably get the extension this summer or fall. Barbosa may have to wait or may never get one.
