You guys dont like Mike James?
Are u serious, he's one of my fav players on raptors, I think raps should definently re-sign him.. He has heart and he wants to win, I felt he sometimes forces shots but alot of times he takes it to the whole aggressive and good things happen, Hes improvin each year although he's 31, he's still good and has probably a good 4-5 years left in him, I think we should keep him and hes improvin on his game everyday, hes even boxin right now to stay in shape for ball, I think he can most def learn to get others involved more and at the same time take it to the whole agressive, Its good to have a versatile pointguard

Every quote I've heard from the guy has indicated that he has no desire to change the way he plays at all. If he could, then I would agree on resigning him, but all signs point to him not wanting to change for anybody.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
if you ever watched any raptors games, you would see that he cost us big time in a lot of games..yes he did win us a couple, but only because he screwed up with a lot of turnovers and poor decision making. he still doesn't understand that bosh is who we need to go to during crunch time, not him.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
I want him back. The ball hog had 6 assists a game.
And after the 1-15 start, when James and Bosh started becoming the 1-2 punch, they were a .500 team until Bosh went down. Of course they lost games when Mike James was putting up stats... at the same time he was playing well. But you guys need to slap yourselves in head hard, if you think he can lead that team in the last month to victories. It was easy to accuse him of putting his stats above the team. But in reality the team sucked.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
He can still improve, what he's only played 4 seasons in the nba right?
Plus he's quick enough to guard any point guard in the league as well

Sure, he had the numbers when it came to assists. But most of his assists came from last second pass-offs to his teammates whenever he botched up one of his plays and decided that he couldn't shoot the ball for whatever reason. If the rest of the team were crappy shooters, he wouldn't even have those assist numbers.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
You guys make it seem like he always comes down and jacks shots, thats not even true.. I like it when he says he is a playmaker.. He takes the best opportunity when he comes down the floor and if thats blowin past the d because of his major quickness then so be it.. Stop ridin chris bosh just because he said he wants a pass-first pointguard..

er yeah
James is a playmaker, sure, but a playmaker for himself, not for the team. That's the bit of information he always leaves out.
James will always try to create his shot before passing. That's a SG, not a PG's responsibility.
James ALWAYS makes a play for himself, only if he has no looks he'll dish it out, and most of the time, he still jacks the shot, even if there are nobody under the basket to rebound. He needs to learn to be more humble and less selfish. He's all about stats.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
Playmaker or not, I just love how the guys who've "watched" every Raptors game didn't see MJ stepping up as the only guy capable of ending a scoring run by the other team.
Sure he jacks up shots, but he makes them a lot of the time.
Quick name three other better defending players on the Raps?
Name one?
The guy was a great find, but because Babcock brought him in, I suspect he won't be back next year.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
He was probably the only guy on our team with balls last year, and if the price is right I'll definitely take him back on our team.

He stepped up, but he also made many, many bad decisions and forced the issue one too many times. He would get too caught up in one-on-one stuff, especially if the opposing PG scored on the previous possession, or if he was blocked or stopped on the previous possession. More often than not, he put himself ahead of the team. His passes were usually not in a good spot, players receiving the ball low or high or having to reach and get out of position to catch the pass. He's simply not a team player, if he were, why would he be looking at joining his 7th team in 7 years?
If Mike James were to stay, we would never have the chance to see if Bosh (or Villanueva, or MoPete) is capable of making plays at the end of the game, because the ball would stay in Mike James' hands.
Mike James isn't a PG, he's been forced to play point guard because of his size. That's the only quality about him that says point guard. If he were 6'4" or 6'5" instead of 6'1", I'd love to sign him, but he's not. We need a PG.Period. I'm confident with Bosh, Villanueva, MoPete and our #1 pick being able to provide the majority of the offense. With a point guard taking maybe 10 shots next year and looking to pass, as opposed to 15 shots and looking to score, Bosh and Charlie will be looking at increased ppg stats.

Re: You guys dont like Mike James?
Mike James would be great to have if he came at the right price and he accepted the role of the 6th man. He would be an awesome 6th man to provide an offensive spark and toughness to give the team a boost
