Rumour: Trading down and drafting Roy?
Quote:
Roy said he might also make a detour to Toronto, which holds the No. 1 pick in the draft, for a possible workout with the Raptors on Monday. There have been rumors this week that the Raptors might be interested in Roy, but Roy said he thinks those mostly involve Toronto trading down a few spots.
"My agent seems to think they want me more at three or four and trading their number one pick,'' Roy said.

Either this is a smokescreen, or all the others have been smokescreens. Good fun all. Difference is this comes from a player via his agent.

Re: Rumour: Trading down and drafting Roy?
I want Roy the most for this team out of the "big 6". His surname should speak for itself.
On another note, I still really like Brewer. I think he would be a great fit for this team and I think I have a bit of a crush on him.
Make it happen BC.

I like Roy a lot too. Consider this, who would you rather have on this team next season Roy or Bargnani. Personally I'd take Roy and if we could trade down to 3-4-5 and still get him that would be awesome value for the #1 pick. Something tells me we will just end up with AB. I don't like the idea of making a risky pick, and would be much more satisfied with a player like Roy, but I can live with Bargnani if Colangelo is convinced he's the real deal.

I wouldn't be opposed to taking Roy at #1 if we can't get a trade done.

that's the one thing i'd be especially weary of doing: i would not draft brandon roy at #1. if we really want him, there'd almost certainly be a way to move down, acquire another asset (of some value) and still get brandon. really, drafting him at #1 wouldn't exactly maximize value- it'd be one thing to sincerely see him as a gunner who could justify the first overall selection this year, but i fail to see how he could ever appear that way (to anybody).
if we wanted to do something different, i'd almost mandate a way to not only safeguard ourselves from bad press ("they took him at #1?!"), i'd want to relieve us of the #1 overall contract too. saving $1 or 1.5 million is big money when you're the toronto raptors of june 2006, just waiting to make an imminent splash in free agency and/or the trade market.
anyway, who does that leave? is there a player we haven't had our eye on? haven't read much on morrison, i guess, although there have been stories (draftexpress today, for example).
peace

Re: Rumour: Trading down and drafting Roy?
roy seems too much of a jalen rose to me. kinda the good role player type of guy that's good in crunch time..
the thing that sets me off about brewer is his weird arm. if you read on draftexpress u would know that he can't lift up his right arm very well due to an accident, so that really deforms his shot. not worthy of a top 10 pick in my opinion.
i still feel aldridge or bargnani or gay would fit best on this team..mayb even add morrison to that (although morrison is too much of a defensive liability). did any watch the aldridge thing on yahoo? he was comparin his game to duncan/garnett and will work as hard as he can to get to that level. that shows great determination, i can't wait for this draft!

Probably somebody spent too much time looking at our depth chart.

Re: Rumour: Trading down and drafting Roy?
Or maybe the rest of us have spent too little time looking at our depth chart. We're razor thin in the back court.

Re: Rumour: Trading down and drafting Roy?
Roy at #1 not worth, if they cant trade down, they should just take Morrison.
