Monday rumours.....Ray Allen???
from the Seattle times....

Other trade rumors have the Sonics dealing Ray Allen to Toronto in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick and a handful of players.
|
not much else in the article. I would love Allen, but I'd assume that Seattle will likely desire a combination of Charlie and the #1

Re: Monday rumours.....Ray Allen???
We have no clue if they are even talking unfortunately as we know BC is talking with POR and CHA.
It makes some sense based on the instability of the Sonics and the TOR desire for vets and salaried players, but that's all we got.
Chances are, something will come out of the blue. Until the deals were essentially done, we had not heard about the Jazz or SA deal.

as far as we know, POR and CHA could be smoke screens to SEA.

No they are not smokescreens, they are fallbacks if nothing better comes in. #1 and AW for #3 will be there until the pick is made. Same for the POR deal.

If by 'handful' of players, you mean Bosh, sure.
It would be a stupid trade. No team has ever traded a proven star for a draft pick, and that's for a good reason.

Uh, what about Elton Brand coming off back-to-back 20/10 years for the #2 pick in the 2001 draft (Tyson Chandler).

Re: Monday rumours.....Ray Allen???
dont see it...allen is too old to fit into the raps plans long term...to get him, wed have to trade someone (either cv or #1 draft pick) that does fit on a long term basis...the raps are at least 2 yrs away from being serious contenders to make any kind of noise in the playoffs...i rather keep our young assets for a guy that has imo, 3-4 yrs left...

Re: Monday rumours.....Ray Allen???
Giving up Charlie and the first pick would be a mistake in this scenario.
If would send us back to the team we had with Vince Carter and Kevin O'Neill, where we were probably good enough to make the playoffs (if everyone had stayed healthy) but not good enough to get anywhere.
I'd rather be patient and keep building towards a better team.

Re: Monday rumours.....Ray Allen???
One sentence in a Seattle Times article is not much to go on. Its a rumor, and not a very good one at that.
