Gheradini + Nesterovic on the FAN590
Wow. Am I glad this guy is our Ast. GM.
He is luke warm on Ukic. REAL high on AB. Duh! Also high on Thabo Sefolosha as next Euro to be drafted.
Said Sergio Rodriguez would need a great commitment to come over from Madrid since he is on a great contract there. I think the 31 would be a big deal for BC in a potential trade down from POR. You could essentially do the buyout and give him the cash he needs.
There might be a link to it later on their website.

Re: Gheradini + Nesterovic on the FAN590
After listening to Gheradini's interview where he not-so-reluctantly praises Bargnani I would put the odds of us taking anyone but him at at least ten to one.

Re: Gheradini + Nesterovic on the FAN590
its pretty much a lock for me now...ab on wed in a raps uniform...i think he talks even more glowingly in his interview with bobcat about ab...theres no way the raps play up a guy this much and then not draft him...(thou as he alluded to, i dont think our ast. gm is supposed to be saying as much as he has)
i predicted as much after hearing swirsky this afternoon in the other thread....im telling you, watch what swirsky says between the lines and you can get a good idea of whats going in raps land...e.g a) subtly critizing the carter trade on air for the 1st time( nowwww hes against plyrs dictating the terms of the deal) boom, next day babcock is fired....b) late in the season, i notice he begins to subtly critizing mike james pass 1st approach after months and months of hyperbole on what onions james has, what a great scorer he is, etc, etc...couple weeks into the offseason we learn mike james is probably not going to resign...c) up until the nesterovic trade, swirsk public stand on his radio show was: "im happy with bargnani, aldridge, roy, thomas, gay 1st overall", now suddenly on todays show he says he likes bargnani over aldridge and that all the scouts hes talked to think ab is a stud coupled with absolutely no more talk about like all the other picks equally? coincidence? i think not...swirsk is the corporate mouthpiece n u just have to watch how the media spin is being played to get an idea what is going on in raps land...

Re: Gheradini + Nesterovic on the FAN590
thanks for the links. hadn't heard much from mauricio beforehand, so it's good to get him in front of the microphone. i'll want to hear the fan590 interview as well- hopefully they'll post it on the website later.
if you think about it, there's certainly an oasis of talent in europe- presumably untouched- and we appear to be in the vanguard now (what with gherardini and colangelo's connections). i'm passionately interested to see how this plays out- if the nba is ever to become truly international, this would be the first step. sooner or later i imagine most teams in the league are going to have more sophisticated european scouting staffs than they currently do. a "revolution" of some kind appears to be inevitable. but we'll see.
i'm a little worried about mauricio's bias, though. andrea's obviously proven himself, but when you're that close to a player... i dunno. you may not even realize how it affects you. of course, it may not matter, bargnani may indeed be the 'best' player in the draft class regardless, but it's still more risky (in some ways) to have a personal relationship with a player just prior to draft day.
i find myself wondering how well we did our homework with respect to the ncaa talents available. we conducted a list of workouts, which is fair, and we've seen almost every big name, but something tells me we haven't really considered anyone else. the way we talk about andrea still smells of bias. don't know how comfortable i am with that.
two days to go...

My hope is that we used Mauricio as a resource to aquire info about AB not as an important player in the entire decision making process. He hasn't been apart of the NCAA scouting process or the NBA community, and therefore shouldn't have too much input with regards to the final call.

Everything I've heard about the guy is that he is a great evaluator of basketball talent. IMO, talent is talent and basketball is basketball, regardless of NCAA or Euro setting.

That's true, but I think what Flush may be alluding to is this draft specifically.
I mean, you would think that Maury hasn't seen alot of these NCAA guys play, at least, not in the same capacity as the scouts who have watched them all year round. I suspect he'll have to refer to the tapes archive, which isn't the same as seeing some of these guys live. Of course, I may be wrong, and Maury may have better ground to state an opinion on the NCAA guys, but working under my assumption (and presumably Flush's), I wouldn't be surprised if Maury took a 'backseat' this year.

"I don't really look at guys and memorize players, but (Bosh) is very impressive. He can shoot, he has an inside game, physical at times, he's pretty good...he's more than holding his own." - Shaq
"I really like him...to me he's already pretty special," Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki said after continually getting beat to the basket by Bosh. "He's going to be a great player in this league."
"Chris Bosh really has emerged to be a star in this league. There are more than the top three (in the 2003 draft)." - Dwyane Wade
I love everything about him, I love his game, I love his work ethic. He definitely has my approval - Kobe Bryant"

My bad, I thought the comment was about his place on the raptors in the future. Looking back, it is clear the reference was to this year.
Sorry Flush
