Re: Official: Toronto selects PJ Tucker 35th overall
Tucker should be a nice option off the bench, probably for Mo or whatever starting SG we end up with
I like his game from the little I have seen, I remember his clutch play in the tournement, and how he at times kept Texas in games when Aldridge and Gibson were'nt performing.

y'know, you probably have a point. but something tells me pj wasn't necessarily on our board at 35, that we didn't necessarily believe he'd still be available, and that concerns me more than tucker himself. i mean, our room didn't appear to have too much 'chemistry', as it were, to pick players who surprisingly remained on the board at #35. the 'consensus' of which bryan spoke repeatedly must've just been a marketing tool. i'd love to have a transcript of our room at #34:
"uhhh... well, denham brown is still available... jermaine bucknor too... wait- pj tucker's still here? uhh, bry? you know this dude? tucker? texas? aldridge!"
"maybe we should take him- if only to shut up the lamarcus supporters! LOL... uhh... lol."
"true true! let's take him... what pos does he play?" etc.
who knows how it really went, but i seriously doubt that we 'attacked' the pick- i.e. "pj's still here! let's take a grab!!!! guys, our prayers have been answered!"- i'd imagine it was more of an apathetic group, but who knows.
as long as we stayed well away from gibson, and at least did our homework on lamarcus, i think i saw the rest of the longhorns as fair game, so i can't complain. not a bad pick but... maybe too quiet for what i expected.
peace

Re: Official: Toronto selects PJ Tucker 35th overall
I honestly would have prefered Diaz or Denham Brown, but PJ is by no means a bad pick, especially given our need for defense.
Hopefully we'll invite darius, gansey, barea, or ray to camp to fill out a guard spot.

yeah this guy is all hustle, i was hoping we'd get denham or a pg but i'm not mad at banging tough rebound with great D, he'll play the 3 & the 2 alittle bit.

Umm actually you have it backwards, Graham cant dribble while Tucker is a decent dribbler

???
you want to attack the pick?
and that conversation is less likely to go down in a draft room headed by BC/embry

for the 35th pick in the draft, this was a solid pickup. He'll make the team and contribute during the second half of the year.

Re: Official: Toronto selects PJ Tucker 35th overall
With Graham and Tucker I'm not worried about ballhandling. Tucker can hit an inside shot and Graham can hit an outside one, they just need someone to set them up in the right spot. This is a defensive manouver, IMO. Tucker and Graham should be able to guard back up 2/3s with success.

Re: Official: Toronto selects PJ Tucker 35th overall
For a second rounder, this strikes me as really good value. You're not going to be getting a starter in the second round, what you want is solid value coming off the bench. He's a really hard worker, intense, aggressive, a tough defender, a great rebounder, has solid fundamentals, and can present matchup problems due to his strength. Obviously there's flaws that will keep him from being a starter, but he strikes me as an excellent option coming off the bench.

Re: Official: Toronto selects PJ Tucker 35th overall
I have heard he is similar to Bonzi Wells, but I haven't seen alot of him.
I really don't have an opinion on this pick.
But...
If he is anywhere close to a young Bonzi, then I don't mind the pick.
