Umm...Bryan colangelo has stated that he will take a couple of years to develop. I'm prety sure that means he is somewhat of a project.
And is Andrew Bogut a bust? He is generally considered one of the best young big men in the league and he averaged 9 and 7.

Having room for improvement doesn't mean he's a project. Bosh was not a project, he contributed immediately as a rookie, but also improved each year.
I'm hoping for 12 and 6 from Bargs.

Absolutely. Imagine a guy from the euroleague who came in and in his rookie season only played 47 games, only shot 40.5 FG%, 20.6 3PT% and 77.3 FT%, only got 3.5 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.6 SPG and 0.6 BPG, had 1.6 TOPG and 2.2 PFPG, and only got 8.2 PPG. That guy'd be a complete bust...named Dirk Nowitzki.

Re: Predict Bargnani's 1st Year Stats
9 and 5, he's not going to be a guy who really contributes early, but toward the end of the season, I can see him playing a level ahead of the game.

I think his number would be slightly similar to bogut's number
and if his number are similar to bogut, would we consider his rookie year a failure?

Re: Predict Bargnani's 1st Year Stats
who knows...ive never seen him play a full game before...but bc says he should be able to contribute right away so i hope we see at least 10-12 pts 6-8 rbds...if not, its gonna be somewhat of a disapointment...

You might expect a little higher than 8, but anything much higher than that would be a surprise, in my opinion.

Fair enough point... but I think the NBA has quite a bit more FGM (field goals missed) per minute then the Euroleague... so that would have to be considered as well.

All true but... Dirk didn't came from Euroleague but from German 2nd League!
Regarding Bargnani's impact, i hope to see him playing more than 20 minutes per game. His stats will be related to PT (so 8+4 doesn't always mean he's a bust)...

Re: Predict Bargnani's 1st Year Stats
Obviously its dramatically too early to draw any meaningful conclusions, but I'm going to anyway. After three games in the summer league, his numbers are:
29 MPG, 53.8 FG%, 44.4% 3P%, 90.9 FT%, 2.7 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 3.0 TOPG, 7.7 PFPG, 14.0 PPG
The only conclusions I'm going to draw from these numbers are:
- he is, as expected, a good shooter
- he doesn't, at this stage in his development, rebound well, even against very subpar NBA competition
- he is, while adjusting to the NBA game, committing a lot of fouls. Obviously the number of fouls in summer league games is absurd, but nevertheless, he has committed more than anyone else on the team
