Seattle trade speculation
All the 'big trade' speculation seems to be centered on the Sonics and in particular Ray Allen. What do you guys think it could be?
My thoughts would be:
Allen and Ridnour (maybe Petro) for MoPete and Villanueva (maybe Calderon and Sow)
Sonics clear about 10 million in salary this year and Mo expires next year when Lewis will opt out to sign a bigger deal. With Wilcox being re-upped this offseason, it would put the Sonics into serious tax territory if they keep Ray around. They get Villanueva who can slide into the PF spot shifting Wilcox to play C/PF, and they get Mo for a season. Their biggest reason is the tax which will come into play next offseason trying to resign Ridnour and Lewis, I can't imagine them wanting to go into the tax with all of the problems the franchise is having.
The reasons for the Raptors are quite obvious.

Re: Seattle trade speculation
There is not a peep in Seattle about trading away Ray Allen. None.
Until I hear something from the Seattle media, any trade involving Allen is just wishful thinking.

Re: Seattle trade speculation
I don't see Allen getting traded for any Raptor other than Bosh. I don't like CV packages.

Re: Seattle trade speculation
Yah, I gotta agree with the Seattle posters, CV while a bright young talent, but doesn't exactly get you Ray Allen and Luke Ridinour
But it doesn't mean talks aren't going on, just that the talks are most likely driven by Toronto.

Re: Seattle trade speculation
This would be a pretty sweet lineup if it panned out.
PG: Ridnour
SG: Ray Allen
SF: Bargnani
PF: Bosh
C: Nesterovic
I like that team.
I also think there is no way we garner Ridnour in that deal.

People don't really read past the name to understand the financial reasons and tax implications. 10 million this year and an additional 5 next season when Mo expires means a lot to teams nowadays. Teams do not want to pay the tax. Hell, Phoenix gave away picks for free (basically) lastnight. Seattle gets one of the bright young stars and a good defensive 2 who still manages to put in close to 17 a game. It's a good deal.

You make a strong argument but CV is still not a proven talent to everyone arounf the league and Allen is the face of the sonics organization. I think the last thing sonics fans want to hear right now is the loss of a player like allen even if it potentially means the addition of a future star like charlie.
