Why take the risk?
Taking AB and trading CV was such a pointless risk, both players will have about the same career but id give CV a less of a chance of busting.
It would have made more sense to trade number 1 pick for ford cause less chance of bust and just as much as upside.

um.. maybe they didnt want the number one for ford.... maybe they wanted charlie & only charlie? would have made more sense to include magloire tho.

Re: Why take the risk?
I have a feeling I will regret this deal a few years down the road as a raps fan.
CV will be an all-star.

Re: Why take the risk?
Well, clearly you cannot trade the #1 pick for TJ Ford.
As far as taking risks... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Re: Why take the risk?
I guess Colangelo is so high on AB that he doesn't think it's a risk at all.
If Bargnani is the real deal, this is not a bad trade.
I don't think bargs will be a bust. Slim chance for that.
The guy played in the toughest competition available for a young player and did really good.
He has all the tools to become a terrific player.
I think no one in the organization is glad to see Charlie leave the franchise, but if the other side of the deal is a young and talented guard in TJ Ford, that's acceptable.
Anyways, AB or no AB, our frontcourt is pretty solid and we really needed to fill the hole in the PG spot.

Re: Why take the risk?
The real risk is Fords back. He has already missed more than 1/3 of his career due to it. OMG OMG I can't believe it!!!!!

Re: Why take the risk?
When a rookie drops 48 points, thats something. A few years down we WILL regret this trade when we see what Charlie V becomes.

Re: Why take the risk?
from what i gather colangelo has a had his eye on AB for a couple of years know so im guessing its a wise choice.
its funny how when BC is making all these deals were completely agreeing with everything he does and all over his sack but if babcock was in this position we would be asking for his head on a platter.

the guy(BC) comes in with a stellar rep and i think you give him the benefit of the doubt till he screws up. one can say he just screwed up but you dont know. what he and those that agree with him are saying is bargnani is going to be a much better player down the road. i guess if he didnt think that he wouldnt have picked him #1. i think the thing that would scare me is how tj ford works out not how bargnani works out

Re: Why take the risk?
It definately is the risk.. i think this is the trade that will be used to judge BC's time as a raptor GM...
i think it could possibley be the move that will define colangelo as a great gm... i love charlie V.. but i think he will soon hit the ceiling... he's crazy talented... but i think last year was the rookie equivalent to a contract year... if you know what i mean....

Re: Why take the risk?
Toronto definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of player quality. However T.J Ford is an outstanding pass first pg-exactly what the raps needed. With Ford feeding Bargnani and Bosh theres no telling what we might see next year. The raps are improved exponentially over last season and this deal benefits the raps hugely over the long term.
