Suddenly Rasho's contract doesn't seem all that bad. I'm sure Nazr and Przy will be getting similar deals.

Unfortunately these "bums" are still better than the alternatives, besides players are not only paid for their scoring stats because they become necessary parts of a team. But you are right that some are bums and only sit back and collect their massive pay checks.

i wonder, the chance that this deal pays off for the nuggets in the end is far smaller than the chance that it doesn't. it's hard to believe, really. i can hardly imagine what kind of $$$ he would've commanded had he played... oh... more than 3 minutes last year.

regardless of how i see this deal, it's unjustifiable. anyone who tears his acl and goes on to miss the rest of the season (aside from carson palmer, i suppose) is not in the best of negotiating positions. when you consider nene, he hasn't really proven much to begin with. he's more than adequate, that's not what i'm saying; he's just... more potential than production, even now- even last summer, even with healthy knees. but here he goes into his contract year, plays one eleanor rigby of basketball, rips his knee to shreds... and gets 60 mil.

it's like the maple leafs in some ways- you can't just pay money to anyone and expect they'll be worth it. big money does not a player make, no matter how much you want to believe it. the nuggets are now financially strapped to say the least- maybe we'll be in the same boat soon. they'll be an "mle franchise" for the foreseeable future. i hope they don't 'pay' for it.

these kinds of deals typify the NBA, but I think the very shallow free agent pool does not hurt the contracts of alot of these guys. Bottom line is: if you made everyones salary Zero and then paid them according to their statistical production, many players get more than they deserve. But the measuring stick isnt the rest of the leaugue, its the rest of the free agent pool and your audience isnt all 30 gm's, its the ones with money to spend. imho this means guys like nene get 10 mill a year for doing...what exactly im not sure, I mean I know, I know, he has alot of 'potential', but really, I think Nene is overpaid, and Denver will regret this. But then as someone earlier said, everyone of these C's is overpaid, its the reality of the NBA

Yikes Nene hasn't earned this at all, but some teams was bound to give it to him. Last offseason with Dalembert and Chandler has set a bench mark for big centers contracts. This is too much and I think the Rasho looks very reasonable in comparison. With that all being said Nene should become a really solid player, but I think they will have to trade Martin to give him PT.

6 years $60 million? i'd laugh in his freaking face. Denver doesn't know what they're doing anyways. look at their front line: Camby (hurt), K-Mart (hurt), Nene (hurt). they have to realize sooner or later that talent isn't always everything because where's the talent if they can't play? it's sitting on the bench while people Francisco Elson are earning their paycheck.
