I've heard one knock on Daniels was his supposed lack of urgency at times.
In any case, I don't think it's as great a "red flag", as speedy puts it, as one initially sees it. I think (more I like to think) the deal was made more to do with salaries than anything else. Marquis isn't exactly starting right now, nor is his contract helping Dallas in it's re-signing schedule (Josh Howard needing to put pen to paper soon?)
Expendable to them for the forementioned reasons.

Re: Marquis Daniels dealt to Indiana for Austin Croshere
meh, Fred Jones doesn't float my boat. I don't see why we HAVE to sign someone else. I think I would rather wait until next year and take a run at some of the more quality players.

Re: Marquis Daniels dealt to Indiana for Austin Croshere
I don't think we'll have cap space next year after we sign Bosh and TJ Ford to their much larger deals. The way Brian has ran things so far has made it best to get everything intact this offseason and then basically MLE and resign the next decade away.

Re: Marquis Daniels dealt to Indiana for Austin Croshere
Daniels is making $19 million over the next three seasons (team option for a 4th year), while Croshere has an expiring contract and is making $7.3 million this season.
Clearly a salary dump.

Daniels Trade?
Wouldnt Marquis Daniels have been a good player on Toronto even a 6th man type role as a guard....he can play both guard positions and played really well with Don Nelsons run and gun style that supposedly Toronto is thinking of doing this year. He played really well in that system however wasnt playing much in Avery Johnsons style....and he could've provided some scoring that Toronto lost with James leaving if for nothing? Even game 6 against Miami he had a good game in limited playing time

When someone's market value is an expiring contract of an iffy player it's a huge red flag that the player is way overpaid.
