Anthony Parker= More NBA ready Brandon Roy

after watching him a few times over the past few years at Macabi and the game against us at the ACC he reminds me alot like draftexpress explained as a more ready version of Brandon Roy. He shows the ability to shoot, drive, pass and defend. The "does everything well but nothing great" sentiment applies to both these guys very fittingly.

I was a big proponent of drafting Roy if we were trading down in the draft becase he is capable of playing SG and spot minutes also at the 1. I think Parker also has the ability to play spot mintes at PG but also the ability to play shooting guard and some Small forward. He seems to like having the ball in his hands near the end of the game or being the one who is willing to take the last shot and I feel that is currently lacking on this current projected lineup. Bosh didnt seem to be confident at least last year with being the guy who had to step up at the end of games and make that last second shot. Understandbily so because he is very young and inexperianced in that situation.

For 4 million dollars a year the intangibles Parker brings in experiance and skill level would be a steal in my mind.

are you trying to imply he couldnt cut it? his first 2 seasons were plaged with injury. Please give me reason's why you dont want a guy that is in his prime and you can get at a bargain of 4 million dollars a season?

Youd rather spend 4 million a season on Rasual Butler?

This guy is a back to back euroleague MVP along with being the best player outside of the NBA and showed that he is definitely capable of scoring against NBA defenders( Just ask Morris ).

Bonzi Wells is 30, so I guess we should not even take him into consideration either

Re: Anthony Parker= More NBA ready Brandon Roy

don't know how much parker's improved but if we're looking to use him as a starter, i'm puzzled. not to mention if we're looking to put the ball in his hands at the end of the game (because chris 'isn't comfortable' in that role), i'm at a loss for words.

why exactly are we letting mike james walk again?

i think anthony parker for mike james would be... awful. for so many reasons. almost embarrassing. but i haven't seen him play in years, may not be the same guy, not sure.

peace

Huh? you havent seen him play in many years? so im assuming you must have seen him play in 1997 or 1998 then because thats the last time he was in the NBA.

Were letting Mike James walk because he is a nut job and not a pass first point guard and is so trigger happy late in games its out of control. Whats so hard to understand about giving a guy that has for years now been "the man" and come through making huge shots on the way to numerous euro championships the ball late in games? It was clear last year that Bosh just couldnt step up in the clutch and for one I wouldnt be suprised if this never changes.

whats so puzzling about him starting either? right now our starting small forward is Joey Graham or Mo Peterson and when the 2 of them faced off last year Parker showed that he was easily the better player between him and MO. He also posses's far better ability to create off the dribble then Mo and is just as capable a defender.

and since when was bringing Parker on anything to do with Mike James?

Anthony Parker is the two time defending Eurolegue MVP. Not the Israeli League MVP, not the Italian, Spanish or German League MVP... the Euroleague MVP. Back-to-back. He's, hands down, the best player in Europe.

If he does sign here which I hope, hes going to make alot of people doubting him eat crow

We arent winning any championships soon

we are still in a rebuilding stage and we dont need him taking minutes away from people were trying to develope

So I assume we should just try to develop Graham and then when we hit the lottery again next year and realize Joey isnt capable of being our long term SF we should go back to the drawing board. This is the ridiculous mentality I hate with Raptor fans. so because we arent going to win a championship this year we shold just accept mediocricy and start Joey , instead of starting a player who is much more experianced and advanced then him?

Dude we are done the rebuilding stage and that is evident when Colangelo says anything less the playoffs to him is a failed season. If we were still in the rebuilding stage Chris Bosh wouldnt be signing long term and we wouldnt be looking to add veteran role players.

Have it your way with Graham at small forward and another losing season , But id much rather have Parker and at least make the playoffs and regain some much lost respect around the league.

If Parker signs, I gurantee he starts from day one

Don't underestimate the Joester.. He has all the tools in the world, and is fully capable of becoming a star in this league.

Except possesing a meanstreak and a nastyness, maybe one of the most important traits in becoming a consistant lockdown defender. I mean the guy has all the tools in the world to be great but this sentiment can be said about alot of players who have come and gone before.

Unless he went to a ballhandling school and somehow developed a chip on his shoulder Joey will never be a full time starter in this league and this is coming from one of his biggest supporters coming out of OSU.

I see your expectations are much lower for next season then Bryan's are........what's better for the team's development. Bringing in a guy who might be able to push us into a near legitimate playoff contender and help develop a winning attitude into our younger guys or tanking another year and keep burning the losers tag into their minds. After so much losing sometimes it can break players mentaly and then they expect to lose like Adur-Rahim. You can't have a bunch of youngster running around either and expect them to develop inot a contender, you have to bring in vetran leaders who can bring them along the way. Anthony Parker is just a stop-gap solution like Rasho is who will take the burdun off the younger guys and allow them to develop at their own pace. Let's not talk about the fact for all this he's dirt cheap and will hardly hurt our cap and gives us more depth and tradeable asset's.
