PJ Tucker Bold Prediction

I think PJ Tucker is going to be the best player drafted in the 2nd round.

I think he is going to play his way into a 20mpg role as a rookie, and that we may well see Joey Graham leaving town.

And I think he will end up a 30mpg wing, in the Bonzi Wells / Ruben Patterson mould.

He is a FAR more complete player than Joey. Right now, Graham has a better outside shot. Tucker is better at everything else. They're close at inside scoring, but Tucker is a better rebounder and a much better passer. I suspect he will be better driving the ball as well, but it is very, very hard to project that from NCAA to NBA. PJ is better stealing the ball and blocking shots, and has a much better hoops IQ at both ends of the floor.

Steal of the draft.

Re: PJ Tucker Bold Prediction

the problem is that he's 6'5 playing a power/small forward position.

no one is knocking on this guy's talent, it's juss that he's gonna find it very hard to adjust to the size and quickness of the NBA.

I think he'll have to prove some perimeter skills before they give JG up.

all rookies coming into the league have to deal with the size and quickness of the league, but from what I've seen of PJ, he has the atleticism and speed to make a decent transition

I think the way the team is constructed, PJ can be a big part of our team where his skills can be accentuated and his weaknesses made not as evident

He's not a great shooter, but when he's teamed with a Mo Pete or hopefully an Anthony Parker in the backcourt, he won't be asked to be a shooter. Defensively, he could switch assignments, so he guards slower 2's or the smaller 3's, whatever works better.

he'll be asked to be that energy guy that every team needs, a backcourt player that will be all over the boards but won't have many plays called for him. He will also probably get a chance to post up a bit, to utilize his frame and try to bully his way to the basket.

I think he can still be effective on the boards in the NBA because of his freakish wingspan.

time and time again i see (6-5 to 6-7)guys coming out of the NCAA that are legit power forwards, that once they come to the NBA need to be able to guard 3's and some 2's.

see Johnson, Larry.

Re: PJ Tucker Bold Prediction

PJ was the best player avilable no question and he'd fit in great into our frontcourt if everything worked out. If Bargnani is truly a below average rebounder wouldn't it be good for him to have a freak rebounder next to him? To cover up his weakness? I'm not saying he's going to be a starter or anything but for certain units on the floor havig a guy with his skill set will come in handy. I just think at the veyr least he'll be a soldi defensive/energy type role player for us and I think that the leauge will always fins a place for somebody who has such a tremendous work ethic and motor such as PJ Tucker.
