Re: Cap set at $53.1 million
Cap question regarding Alvin:
If he retires due to the knee injury, he gets his full salary, but the salary comes off the cap. Correct?
If we waive him under the 'Grunwald Knee' clause, he only receives partial salary, rumoured to be 5.4 million this year and 2 million next year. Correct?
Why wouldn't that stubborn S.O.B just take his money and retire so that he'll still be able to walk up and down stairs when he's 45? I appreciate the strong will to play, but he'll never be more than a 3rd string guard playing 8 mpg if he's ever even capable of playing again. Is it really worth it Alvin?
If we waive him, which is pretty much a given, he'll lose 6 million, 6 million that he would not make up on another contract elsewhere. I expect that we'll be seeing Alvin retire this summer, giving us even more room to operate.
