Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block for Jorge, doing his best to fill in for an injured Pau Gasol, which was enough to lead Spain to gold over Greece in the WC's. Jorge hit six-of-eleven three point shot attempts.
And he's ours.

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
the only reason he didnt shot better from 3 was because they were up by so much(like 20 pts most of the game) that garbajosa started taking 3's from the Nba 3 point distance and he came up short a lot. which iam sure he'll have to adjust to with practice

This is great for the Raptors. We need more established winners on this team, and hopefully Porn Star and Jose will bring a winning attidute with them to training camp. I can't wait to watch our Euro Allstar team tear it up this fall

am I missing something? I though 6/11 for 3s is sick, that's over 50%
funny thing though, he had 1/7 from inside.

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
this guy has really grown on me the past couple of games that I was able to see Spain play
he even impressed me during a game in which he didn't put up big numbers, just by being very active all over the court and not taking any plays off.
I love his hustle and basketball IQ and hopefully he can make a smooth transition to the league

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
i didnt mean that 6/11 wasnt good, i just meant that the 5 shots he did miss were from nba distance and may have gone in, if he took one step ahead and shot it from the international distance

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
Garbajosa has been one of the best players in the WCOB for Spain. He just had a bad day (against Lithuania) but stood up when the team most needed him. Although he is 28 I think this is a great oportuniyfor Garbajosa to prove even more how good he is. 2006 has been an incredible year for him, winning the league with his team and the WC today. Best wishes for him.
Greetings from Spain

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
Maurizio Gherardini stated that Garbajosa is not a 3/4, but a 4/5. He was pretty clear in stating that he wouldn't be able to play the three.

Garbajosa made the WC all-tournament team with Pau.

Interestig coz he is height is btween 6'8'' and 6'9'' (whithout shoes) and he doesn't jump that high but he is very smart and moves quite well but I agree he at 3 is bit of strech coz he isn't that quick and if we combain that fact with hes ballhandeling skills it makes sense but Garbage at 5 hard to imagin I must say.

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
euro 5s are different from nba 5s, the usually have a midrange shot, I think they are more face to the basket and they are usually smaller in height.

Re: Jorge Garbajosa leads Spain to gold!
Yeah, watching him play this last few weeks, it's hard to picture him being a consistent option at the 5.
