Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
MoPete, now the longest serving Raptor will be going into this year as a strong second option. Last year Mo played 3rd string to Bosh and Mike James while averaging a career high 16.8 ppg, but now it seems that Mo will be given the ability to shine like never before.
Every year it seems that Mo has built on his game, and last year was clearly the best of his career
Can MoPete take his career to the next level and be a 20 ppg scorer, and be considered a big time player in this league instead of just a good role player?????????

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
Yes. I think Mo can improve on his last campaign and start to show how valuable he is to the rest of the League (we already know how much he's worth to us!).
It's going to be harder to keep him at the end of this contract, but luckily he wants to be in Toronto and Toronto wants him right back.

I think it's going to be easier than ever for Mo Pete this season. He gets to run, shoot, and defend. He doesn't have to create for himself and we might even see him develop a slashing game.

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
I hope Mo can continue to grow in Toronto. Despite his struggles with consistency early on in his career it's nice to see him start bringing it every night. I hope he continues to grow this season and can become a star on both ends of the floor.

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
The thing I like about Mo is that he can give you a "long" statline, by long i mean he can give you a little bit of everything (assists, rebounds, steals, 3 point shooting, and guard penetration).

^ exactly Benis...he won't ever be a 20 ppg player but he's a well-rounded player with strengths on 3pt. shooting, hustle, and D

Agreed! I'd take a nice, long statline over simply 20ppg from Mo.

to add to my point I will say that from everything I have seen, he doesn't demand shots/touches. He is going to get the ball in his hands with the natural flow of play because he is going to get minutes and fills the stat sheet with steals and boards as I mentioned before. with the impact that is expected from what Colangelo brought in, i don't think mo is going to have as much of the load on his shoulders as before. offensively, we aren't going to have to rely on him as much if what everyone is saying about parker and garbajosa are true, bosh at least sustains his producitivty from last season, rasho will take at least twice as many FGs than our centers from last season. defensively he is still going to have a huge roll on the team.
for the record i want mo to retire a raptor. i will always like bosh better and i hope he is in toronto forever, but for some reason if i could pick either to be with the team for his career, it would be mo. to me he is the last piece of the "oldschool" raptor squad.

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
I think you guys are wrong. Mo is ready to be a 20 point per night guy.
He took more shots last year than ever before and his points and shooting percentages rose. That's with Mike James sharing shots with him in the backcourt. With Ford creating looks for Mo on the break (which the Raptors didn't use enough last year) and in half court, he's got a good chance to improve across the board again.
In February/March/April last year he averaged on the happy side of 20 ppg. If he really is in better shape this year and is focused on maxing out his earning potential in the summer, I think he can consistently put up those numbers.

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
I think a lot depends on what Sam can get out of Jones and Parker. MoP won't be left out there for as long during his 'cold streaks' if those guys prove themselves to be a legit option.
It is a contract year and while MoP isn't that kind of player, the pattern seems to be career years when you be judged on how much your worth during the following of-season.

Mo should be the 2nd player on this team to get the most touches, followed by T.J Ford. Players like Jorge, Andrea, Anthony Parker, and the rookies shouldnt be taking those shots away from the vets.

Re: Morris Peterson: NBA's current ironman
I'd be surprised if he ever becomes a 20 ppg player... but I'm expecting him to duplicate his performance from last year, both on and off the court. Hopefully his numbers will mean more this year in the win column too.

We're also a deeper team this year though. Last year we were really a 3, sometimes 4 option squad, so it was no surprise that Mo, Mike, and Chris accounted for nearly 60 points a game... as for the contract year argument, I think that gets thrown out the window. Remember his last contract year, he was relegated to a one-dimentional 3-point shooting role off the bench for Kevin O'Neill, and still suited up for 82 games although he posted career lows across the board.
He'll be fine this year, but I think if he were to be a 20 ppg dude, he would have reached that already.
